Did you know this is the summer of 'do I have enough yarn for this project?'. I kind of like it because it gives me something to think about and provides an excellent opportunity to go through my yarn stash to solve the possible problem.  This is the second hitchhiker of the summer and I am 35 ish teeth done (I forget the count). I am going to start another one when this is finished. What have you been working on this week?

Weekends

Good morning!  On Saturday my sister and brother in law invited us for dinner but we did not play any board games this time. They had a busy day and wanted to relax after dinner. My husband has been joining me for walks because he has those stitches in his arm and is restricted in his activities, it's nice to have him along.  Now that the weather is getting hotter, I walk earlier and earlier to beat the heat. Frodo and I do not like hot and humid weather, but you know that about us already. I worked on the sweater that probably doesn't have enough yarn, but I do have a pretty good plan that I'm excited about. I'm over half way through the first sleeve, thoroughly enjoying my time knitting.  On Sunday I attended 7:30 am Mass enjoying the cool church (no AC!!). Once home, I blitzed the laundry chores and tidying up spaces. My husband and I have lunch on the back patio before the day gets too hot.  How was your weekend?

Dull Days Please

Image
Since my husband's bike fall last Sunday, the beginning of the week was busy. We had our furnace and AC replaced (by choice) and had workers here Monday and Tuesday. We also had appointments with specialists for my husband's forearm because there was still a tiny stone inside (!). For now they want to leave it in there, I guess it's more trouble to cut in again. They are the experts right? He's doing really well and we continue to keep a close eye on the stitches as it heals.  The little cross stitch birth sampler is 3/4ths of the way completed. I am so excited. We've got a month to go before our granddaughter is born near the end of August. Our grandson is growing fast as well, I can't wait to see him too. I continue to read most of the afternoons outside on the back patio. We have no big plans for the weekend which suits me after the bike fall weekend. Give me all the boring dull days please. I'm doing my best to not wish the summer away, it's my lea

Hello! My knitting this week has been a bit different, I returned to the sweater that I'm not sure if I have enough yarn to finish. I have used two out of five skeins for the yoke and some of the body. I decided to stop working on the body and switched to work both sleeves with the same yarn. After the sleeves are finished, I will then know if I am running short of yarn. If so, I will stripe in another tan color of yarn to elongate the body. What are you working on this week?

How was your weekend? My weekend was interesting. We celebrated my dad's 82nd birthday yesterday and it was wonderful to be all together with family and to see him healthy and living large after all those bleak ICU days.  Unfortunately my husband fell off of his bike on a state park trail near my dad's house before lunch. We ended up at urgent care for a deep cut on his elbow with some stitches. Today he sees a specialist to make sure all the 'foreign bodies' are out of the wound. I am grateful that my step-mom, sister and brother in law assessed the damages because I am not great at the sight of blood, ha ha ha. Today we get a new furnace and AC installed, I am so excited!!

As of last night, I have 22 teeth made and have many many more to go on this hitchhiker shawl . Since July started, I've been slacking off on the daytime knitting and only knitting in the evenings. I've been in a reading mood most afternoons. I do this every year and know that I will be energized to knit more when the autumn season approaches. What are you working on this week?

How was your weekend? My weekend was restful and felt like a mini-vacation. I ate lunch every day out on the back patio, enjoying the nice weather in between the raindrops. I'm grateful that we are not super-super hot, just regular warm weather pushing humid. Frodo and I walked early each morning before the full sun and or heat was blaring down. The neighborhood is quiet except for the birds singing. More flowers are blooming in our yard, my husband did so much work last year and we are reaping the benefits this year. I mostly read this weekend for hours on end. The library ebook,  Spare,  became available Friday afternoon and I quickly started reading the memoir. I'm also trying to finish A Dying Fall by Elly Griffiths before the next ebook becomes available through the library. July might be a massive reading month for me. I work a little bit each day on the baby cross stitch sampler, I'm over half way done! How was your weekend?

Animal Mayhem

This has been a good week, I've been able to walk most days and I try my best to get outside before it's too hot for both me and dear old Frodo. I'll take him for his short jaunt around the neighborhood then I go back out after taking him home for my longer walk. This walking rhythm is nice.  How are you?  Two days ago, Holly decided to be a mischievous cat and taunt her friend (nemesis). She first hid behind the drapery getting a 'look see' on sleeping Frodo. I love the concern in her eyes. Then she decided to move around behind the couch, she made sure that when he smelled her presence she was visible but out of reach. That is the game. He cannot hear but boy oh boy can he catch her scent and see pretty good. There was barking and hissing. Frodo was so happy! And you know what? Holly was happy as well. She is the one who started the game and she had opportunities to leave the family room and chose not to leave. My husband and I gave up trying to watch TV because

Good morning! How are you all doing this fine day? I am so thankful that it's the day after July 4th and I will hopefully have a quiet evening. The past two evenings were noisy with neighbors shooting off fireworks. I am grateful that Frodo is hard of hearing and slept peacefully. I wish I could say the same for me (sleeping peacefully that is)!! I started another hitchhiker shawl as soon as I finished the last one. As you know, I work on this in the evenings while watching TV. It's the perfect project to have in the summer - mindless enough but interesting enough.  What are you working on this week?

Weekends

Good morning! This is a quick post since the weekend is still going strong in this house. Our Saturday and Sunday were ordinary days, just the way I love them. We have great air quality once again and along with that has been the rainy season. I tried to take a walk in between the rain drops and was quite successful. I did some loose watercolor pictures in my practice sketchbook of cardinals. It was fun to do the same thing over and over again. The paper isn't the greatest which made the paintings more challenging.  My husband and I went to my sister and brother in law house for dinner and games on Saturday night. I believe we laughed the hardest ever. It was painfully good. Sunday morning we attended Mass then I did the laundry and other chores in the house. Over all it was a lovely weekend. I picked up a sweater that I started a while ago and still wonder if I have enough yarn and how will I go about solving my dilemma if I have one. How was yours?
