As you can guess, I'm going to tell you again about how busy I am.  I thought I'd be used to this but I guess I'm getting older and my energy levels aren't what they used to be.  No matter how busy I am, I am having fun.  Fall is once again back in business.  The maple trees are doing their thing - one of my favorite trees (the other is the mighty oak). Saturday we drove to Lewisburg PA to toodle about-shopping and walking around the town.  We had a great time!  I bought a few more drawing pencils that I will use once our daughter and son in law leave for their new home tentatively planned next weekend.  Lucky for us, there was a fall arts festival in the park that we wandered about. the cowl I knit for him! Yesterday, was relaxing (as in I knit A LOT) and we had dinner with friends.  All in all, a wonderful weekend with perfect fall like weather. How was your weekend?

How was your weekend? Mine is still going strong.  I still have company here until Tuesday morning, then on Tuesday evening our son in law arrives in town.  Maybe every day will be feeling like a weekend around her.  We are in some kind of weird heat wave - it's not pretty my friends.  So a day or so ago, I documented the fall sightings.  They uplift my soul to see Mother Nature doing her thing in spite of hot weather. My weekend:  daughter home and healing - carrot cake! - dinner with the table full of family - laughter - endless busy days - lots of talking - lots of knitting too - late nights and early mornings - loving my family. I'd love for you to share your weekend in the comments if you're up to it.  Anything fun? or new?

How was your weekend?  Mine was productive and relaxing.  Yesterday we stayed home and I knit my little heart out while watching episodes of Dr. Who.  I don't know what it is about the show, but I love it.  The quippy talking back and forth, the silliness and yes even the sinister evil opponents.  Escapism is glorious. I finished a book!  I read Fatal Grace by Louise Penny.  I adore her simplistic writing and the quietness of her stories.  Maybe the way she describes a Quebec winter?  Love it - and the mysteries are not graphic if you are sensitive like I am.  Also, I do love the tiny plot twists, sometimes I see them and sometimes I do not. I finished a hat!  However, that is for later on in the week for me to tell you all about it. Our son was visiting this weekend and we had a great time together.  He'll be back again next weekend to see his sister.  Our daughter is arriving on this Tuesday night and our son in law arrives next Tuesday.  My house will be full for

My sister and brother in law were visiting us this weekend to accompany us to the PA endless mountain fiber festival .  I wish I could bottle up that fun feeling of shopping and buying wool.  That is what this weary world needs.  This year the temps were chilly (good chilly in my mind).  Cold temperatures induce a spending spree at a fiber festival, well that is my story and I'm sticking with it.  Right?  Right. I'm sure you're nodding your head yes.... Anyways, we arrived at 10 am and shopped the various stalls.  The vendors this year were fabulous.  Lots of wool from small farms and indie dyers.  Some fiber to spin as well as tools for knitters, crocheters, weavers and spinners.  Each year the event gets a little bit bigger. My sister and I had fun shopping while the guys went to watch the herding dog demonstration.  We packed a lunch and ate on wooden bleachers watching the sheep shearing demonstration.  I loved being freezing cold down to my toes! I caref

How was your weekend?  Mine is still going strong and I'm not ready to let go of it.  I had a mostly quiet long Labor Day weekend.  Saturday we stayed home and ordered Chinese takeout. Yesterday we drove to Penn State to visit our son for the day. After a Korean lunch (yum!) we walked about the Penn State University Arboretum.  I've never been there before and it was a treat.  Also the weather was overcast which was perfect for photography.  I definitely want to go back again.  I'm sure I didn't see everything.  Also to see the gardens in each season would be neat! After a mad dash through Wegmans to buy all the 'stuff' we cannot get at our local grocery stores, we headed home.  I worked on adding length to the baby dress I made near the end of June.  I guessed the length wrong and the toddler keeps growing.  I added 3 1/2 inches and feel confident that it will be long enough but not too long. Today I decorated for fall in the house

Hello again, how's your weekend?  Over here in PA we are having some stellar weather.  The humidity is low enough that my hair mostly looks good and the temps are perfect.  Not too cold and not too hot.  Perfection!  I'll confess that I've worn jeans, yes jeans, two days in a row.  I love it. My weekend was a balanced busy.  On Friday, I did some window shopping and had a lovely lunch out with my husband at a chopped salad restaurant.  I adore their salads but my husband thought they over chopped his salad, I don't think there is such a thing.  I even left the cosy familiarity of balsamic vinaigrette for carrot ginger dressing -  have you tried it?  delicious! Yesterday, we moseyed around our town, popping into a few stores and did some people watching.  Once home and after lunch, I worked feverishly on the shawl to finish it before the weekend was over.  I cast off during an episode of Fargo (husband loves it).  While I find Fargo humorous, the violence isn&

How was your weekend?  I hope it was filled with lots of fun and happiness.  Mine was pretty good until today.  But first let's start at the beginning. Friday we went out for dinner and after that we maxed out on the staycation no cooking week.  I was more than ready to resume some cooking duties.  The daily salad will continue no matter what.  As long as I use a different dressing each time, I do not hit the salad ennui. After dinner, we did a bit of shopping.  I was in a bookstore browsing and left without buying a book. Ever since I've organized my 'to be read' pile earlier this year and I cannot justify buying any book.  The book has to be a 'must read now or I'll burst' kind of book.  If you're a book reader, you know what I'm talking about. Yesterday, I toodled about at home doing not much of anything.  I knit (a lot actually), read some and even dipped into the pool with my husband.  Mid-afternoon we were thrilled to receive an imp

Now that is one clean coffee table!  I just reclaimed it after a busy weekend and 'stuff' all over it.  Today my knitting friends came over in the afternoon, so I did a fast tidy.  Call me crazy but I like to clean (not the bathrooms!). I'll confess that I hate cleaning the bathroom tub surround so much so that I procrastinate and that makes the job worse when I do.  So I've been diligently cleaning weekly, apparently this seems to decrease the amount of time in there cleaning.  Who knew?! Oh and scrubbing bubbles in a can is arthritis friendly - I don't have to squeeze any triggers repeatedly. For all you summer lovers, please skip this paragraph.  Okay.  I've been seeing signs of autumn on my walk, so subtle but there.  The black walnut trees are starting to drop leaves, they are always first.  I noticed a few fallen acorns on my walk today.  The light has been shifting ever so slightly and my mornings are in the dark once more. I must step up my k

My weekend is still going strong since our son is visiting until tomorrow morning.  However, I wanted to do a quick post about my weekend.  I had a fabulous time yesterday during a picnic with family and friends.  Lots of food, fun and laughter.  Those busy kind of days are memory-filled and I bottle them up, savor them until the next event. I surpassed the ripping out part of the shawl, speeding along to the second installment of the instructions.  I've had lots of knitting opportunities in the past few days. I hope to share with you soon some good news later on this week! How was your weekend?
