Weekends

How was your weekend?  Mine is still going strong and I'm not ready to let go of it.  I had a mostly quiet long Labor Day weekend.  Saturday we stayed home and ordered Chinese takeout.

Yesterday we drove to Penn State to visit our son for the day. After a Korean lunch (yum!) we walked about the Penn State University Arboretum.  I've never been there before and it was a treat.  Also the weather was overcast which was perfect for photography.  I definitely want to go back again.  I'm sure I didn't see everything.  Also to see the gardens in each season would be neat!

After a mad dash through Wegmans to buy all the 'stuff' we cannot get at our local grocery stores, we headed home.  I worked on adding length to the baby dress I made near the end of June.  I guessed the length wrong and the toddler keeps growing.  I added 3 1/2 inches and feel confident that it will be long enough but not too long.

Today I decorated for fall in the house (I know, I'm pushing it).  My husband and I also did a big clean out of a downstairs closet, tossing out many unwanted items.  Of course the electricity went out again from another dead tree falling again.  This time though it was less than 1 1/2 hours!

I wrote an email expressing my unhappiness to the electric company,  I doubt it will do anything but it made me feel proactive.

Tonight I am finishing the baby dress and starting a holiday knit.  I'm ready to go knitting crazy and crank out some hats!

  1. Your weather looks so amazing! It's been so hot here in California you wouldn't even know it's September. I think visiting the garden every season is exactly what you need to do.

  2. Your pictures of the arboretum are so very pretty. What a nice way to spend your weekend, especially with time to visit your son. My son recently moved to King of Prussia, PA and I am in love with his Wegman's. I wish we had one on Long Island.

  9. Do you know I have never been to the Arboretum? Of course, when I was in college at Penn State flowers were the last thing on my mind, but I will have to make a point to visit it the next time we go down for a game. Your pictures are wonderful! No holiday knitting for me but I AM putting together three family recipe books for the girls. : ) I'm visiting Kate in October and want to be able to bring Christmas gifts with me since Michelle and Kate will be spending Christmas together in London. Have a wonderful week!

  18. Your weekend looks lovely. Our grown son was home this weekend by himself. Although I love my daughter-in-law, it was nice to have him to ourselves. We had some good time to talk and enjoy ourselves. Beautiful arboretum. Yes, I think you need to see it in all seasons.
