Yarn Along in January

Today is the yarn along over at Ginny's blog--Small Things.  Sometime during this day, I will make a cup of green tea and browse everyone's postings of what they are knitting on this week.  It is always inspirational and interesting to see what everyone is creating and what they are reading.

I am still working on the Advent Calendar Scarf and am so close to completing it.  I am on Day 21 and I am also running out of yarn.  So it will be interesting to see if I can make it to day 24 or not.  It is already quite long enough so I will not be disappointed if I do run out of yarn.  I continue to read The Elegance of the Hedgehog.  Had you asked me two days ago if I liked it I would have said "ummmmmm" But yesterday, I was hooked on the plot line.  It is an interesting read, I think because it is translated from French, the sentence structure at times seems odd.  It is not a "light" read at all.

  1. I am amazed at your knitting! Look at all the different stitches!! I know what you mean about taking awhile to get hooked in a book. I hope it ends up being fantastic!

  2. You know, I think that's why I put "Hedgehog". The story didn't bother me as much as the translation did. Beautiful knitting. I hope you will be sure to show us the blocked and finished project!

  6. Beautiful scarf
I have that book in "my to read list". Sometimes books translated into norwegain also have some weird sentences... I started to read The Observations by Jane Harris in norwegain, but it was SO badly translated that I gave up after page 11. But it looks lie a good book, so I need to buy the englisg version ;)

  8. What a beautiful scarf! I also enjoyed looking at your Flickr photostream. Are those photos on your sidebar sections of the scarf?

  9. I have the advent scarf pattern saved for next Christmas :) - but honestly, I can't wait to knit it - it looks so great, so I might start earlier...hmmm we'll see...

good luck with the yarn - I just hate it when I run out of yarn especially when I can't find another ball anywhere - so frustrating...but if your scarf's long enough than it's not a big deal...it really does look fabulous!

  10. Your scarf is lovely! I have that book sitting in my "to read" pile beside my bed. I had sort of forgotten about it. I will have to go digging and put it on the top of the pile.
