Brr -  Baby it's cold outside!  However, I am sitting inside a nice warm house wearing lots of wool which is a knitter's ultimate dream come true.  I have my tea sitting here waiting for me and so I'll recap the weekend.

Friday night. we had dinner out and keeping with the lent duties of a Catholic, we had pizza.  Funny how I only eat meat a few times a week and yet the Friday 'no meat' throws me every single time.  We had fun catching up on our week and talking about the kids.  Oh we also were wishing that a person near us would use a tissue instead of sniffing throughout the whole meal.  Sigh..

Saturday was another stay in day.  It was frigid outside and since he is so busy during the week, we loved the excuse to stay home and not go anywhere.  He cooked a curry and dahl and we watched many episodes of the last season of Mad Men.  I must say it was captivating and I cannot wait until tonight to watch the rest. (our PBS viewing is usually Monday and Tuesday evenings from the PBS website).

Today we went to church and it was 2 degrees outside.  The snow is crunchy and squeaky because of how cold it is and Frodo is quite speedy when he does his business.  He is loving the comforts of home as well. How lucky are we?  I think of all those who do not have a home or a warm place to stay in this kind of weather.

Oh and our son is coming home for a visit later this week.  That is super exciting :)

How was your weekend?

  1. It's been frigid here, too! Good weather to stay inside, but we've had a number of family crises, so we've been out.
I'm jealous of your son's visit. My son lives 3 miles from me and I don't think I'll see him until the end of the semester!

    Heart shaped valentines pizza tonight!
I also shadowed at the animal shelter so I can fill in at the front desk and on the phones when they need help. SO excited to see animals adopted out

  3. Four day weekend for the girls and for me! Friday I went walking/running with a friend early in the morning and then ran errands later on. Saturday Hannah and I volunteered at a 5k which meant we had to be there at 5:30 in the morning. The girls were both off babysitting later on which left us home alone. I worked on chores inside and hubby worked on vehicles outside. Today hubby and I went for an early morning walk, and later on to the movies. Still one more day at home tomorrow... :-)

  8. I noticed the same thing yesterday when we went to church ~ how crunchy the snow was underfoot and under the tires. It was quite beautiful here. The sun was out and the trees were covered with glistening snow. I went out in the morning to do a quick task, and I really wanted to grab my camera and take some photos but it was too cold. It was -2 at the time so my desire for comfort won out over my desire for pretty pictures!

  11. Warmish and rainy here in SW WA. We still keep the woodstove going, though, as warmish is in the 50s, which, compared to your frigid temps really is quite warm. We had granddaughter #1 overnight and that meant lots and lots of book reading. Love that she loves to be read to!

  17. Karen, your weekend sounds very much like mine! My husband also loves to stay home on the weekends because he is so busy during the week and he loves to cook. We had our middle daughter home with us this weekend, which was a treat. The two of us went to see "Hail Caesar!" which was a really silly movie. Have you been watching "Downton Abbey"? I'll be so sad to see it end! xx
