Well as you might have guessed, we were in Cape May NJ for our mini family vacation. With everyone's busy schedules, not mine, we managed to find a span of time that we could all be together. We left on Thursday and only got back home on Monday. It was relaxing and wonderful! The forecast all week leading up to Thursday was thunderstorms and rain. Would you believe that we had perfect weather the whole time? Seriously it sprinkled a tiny bit on Thursday afternoon and that was it. There was a lovely beach breeze everyday except Sunday that was a little hot on the beach and I withered and went back to the apartment unit.
The kids (yes adults) talked about digging a hole and building a castle. When the hole digging started my daughter kept saying "this isn't as much fun as I thought it would be". I was thinking the exact same thing when they were planning in the car. On our last walk through the beach the hole was still there, a little beaten by the tide.
We have been going to Cape May for a vacation since 1995. Of course there were years that we were unable to go but overall we love this Victorian town. We park the car the entire visit and walk everywhere. That means you can eat whatever you want and not feel as guilty about calories.
I spent a lot of time reading, knitting, and fiddling with the camera. I also spent a lot of time envying other cameras that the tourists owned! I am planning on buying a new one by the fall. I have tons of more pictures of the town and I think I will put them in another post, so stay tuned.......
Oh! I almost forgot! I finished my composition shawl and it just needs to be blocked.
Ah! Love your beach pictures. Makes me excited for my own beach trip coming up. How beautiful and and refreshing.ReplyDelete
Oh my, what a beautiful area. Your photos look like postcards. It makes me yearn to travel when I see photos like that. Sounds like the perfect mini break. The beach always seems to have a way to revive and renew. Looking forward to seeing more pictures. JacintaReplyDelete
Congratulations on finishing your shawl too! JacintaReplyDelete
How wonderful to get away and just relax and what a pretty place to visit! Oh, and vacation calories don't count...really, they don't!ReplyDelete
Oh...what a wonderful place. I have to say I'm jealous of all you East Coast folks. Everywhere there seems so much more beautiful then on the West! Also...thanks for the comment. The grilled squash is super easy and tasty...and it looks pretty too! Enjoy!ReplyDelete
Sounds lovely! Jason and I have a place at Atlantic beach NC that we like to go. It's quiet and uncrowded and just perfect for us.ReplyDelete
Can't wait to see your finished shawl!ReplyDelete
I must say time at the beach sounds perfect. Especially when there is a breeze blowing - glad y'all managed to get everyone together!
So glad you had good weather! Your pictures are so peaceful...ReplyDelete
This sounds like such a great time! I love the idea of parking the car and walking.ReplyDelete
