Yarn Along

I finished Anne's House of Dreams which I thoroughly enjoyed.  This book flowed easily and the subplots were very interesting.  Anne loves to help people find their happiness.  There is also an event that shadows Anne's happiness.  She truly is a wonderful character who has an upbeat way of tackling the sadness of life and embracing wholeheartedly the goodness of life.  And so I begin number six in the series.

For knitting, I am on the body of the mustard seed cardigan and the body of my wren cardigan.  One is worsted weight and is going very quickly.  The other, sadly, is on size four needles and is pokey pokey slow going.  Oh well, I believe it is all my fault....right?  I know I will love both sweaters when they are complete.  I am certain that everyone should try a top down construction of a sweater-I guarantee you will convert from the sweaters that you have to sew the pieces together.

I am thoroughly loving the cold mornings!  Seems to me that fall is around the corner.  Before anyone knows, it we will be grabbing a scarf or a pair of mitts before heading out the door.....BLISS!!

  1. I love the colours of your sweaters, both look gorgeous. I find that once I've done a sweater in pieces, I crave top down seamless. When I do a top down seamless I get frustrated that it seems to take longer (even though it doesn't really) and that it is heavier... I have to alternate so I remember why I like each one ;)

  3. I am loving the cool mornings! And sadly they will be short lived because I think they turn our heat on at the beginning of October (and it stays on till May!) While I am thankful for abundant heat it really bothers me to have to keep the windows wide open all winter!
Anyway, I think your sweaters look great. :)

  6. Lovely knitting!
I just knitted a cardie where the pattern was in pieces. I had to do a lot of thinking, but I'm still glad I did it in one - I just couldn''t face all the seaming at the end!

  7. Your knits are flying as usual. I know you said that the wren is crawling, but the fact that both sweaters are showing such progress is impressive to me!

My oldest daughter (still at home) started The Anne series last night!

  9. Both of your sweaters are so beautiful! I absolutely love knitting from the top down; in fact the sweater I'm working on now is knit that way.

  10. I think I need some inspiration from Anne...might have to read the series before next summer (which was my original 2012 summer reading plan). Can't wait to see those sweaters! And for the weather to be cool enough to wear them 'eh?

  15. I am totally with you about the cool mornings. There is nothing quite like snuggling up with the baby under crisp cool sheets with the sounds of morning spilling in through the window. I'm in love with your sweaters. :)

  21. When I was pattern searching for my silk yarn I found a really cute little top down sweater that I'm really tempted by.

  22. Oh both your sweaters are just beautiful. I agree with knitting top down sweaters. It is the only way I can knit a sweater. Sewing them up scares me.

  23. Cold mornings and early evenings! I am shocked it's dark before 9pm here.

    Both cardigans are looking wonderful.

  24. More Anne! You guys are killing me...I have no idea where in the attic those books are. I may have to request them at the library so I can read them again right. this. minute. :)

Love your mustard seed cardigan. I have both the tea leaves and the tiny tea leaves on my to-knit list; one of these days I hope to get around to making one of them. In the meantime I guess I will just admire the progress on yours... xo

  28. 44 degrees here this a.m. -- cool is the word. Funny to see my children bundling up as they head out to feed the animals. What wonderful colors you're working with! Progress is progress no matter how slow it goes. :) Blessings, ~Lisa
