Yarn Along

My knitting has been quite eventful!  I decided to start another Christmas present.  This one is for my favorite aunt in the whole wide world.  She admired my shawl that I knit for my sister which I blogged about here.  So the yarn is the same but I wanted to knit a different pattern.  I chose the Live Oak Shawlette from the fall issue of Knitscene.  I am hoping I can make it a little bit bigger.

On my other knitting news I completely ripped out my tea leaves cardigan and restarted it.  My decision came about quickly and yesterday I blogged about that.... it was sort of sad but necessary.  I am finished with the gathers at the top and hopefully I will be more pleased with the fit the second time around.  At dinner yesterday my husband said "maybe you should knit it right the first time".......yes!!  I should!!

My reading has been all about Anne of Ingleside.  This book is by far the one with the most tribulations in Anne's life.  She has an aunt living with her in the beginning who is very unkind.  The middle of the book has been adventures of her various children.  I haven't finished the book yet and was really hoping to this past weekend.  I only have two more books in the series--I only own one of them.  The last book is on my ipod touch and I do not know if my eyes can take that kind of reading.

I also have been reading various knitting magazines to get ideas for some Christmas present knitting.  I really haven't stumbled across a specific pattern yet that I HAVE to make but I sure do enjoy looking at the photos and getting some general ideas.

It has rained so much here the past day!  My husband had to drain the pool last night at midnight for fear of it overflowing.  I remember during July we had to shut off the top skimmer because of lack of rain and water.  We hope to shut the pool up sometime this week. (we meaning that I help with the pool cover, he does the rest)

  1. Yarn along is so brilliant, I've definitely got a Christmas gift project idea today from http://loritimesfive.blogspot.com/

I think I'll make it for one of my friends who has a little girl, for a bedroom... or maybe I'll make two!

  16. Sorry about your Tea Leaves Cardigan. I just hate frogging like that. :( But I'm sure it will turn out even better now! I've read several blogs today that are speaking about holiday gift making and I'm getting a little bit anxious! It just can't be getting close to that time already!!

  21. A very pretty shawl pattern! I love your yarn choices.

I really should go one afternoon to the bookstore and just look at all the knitting magazines. It's something I haven't done since I was in Delaware and I miss nosing through them. Plus, all those wonderful fall and winter knit patterns are coming out I bet.

It's been a damp and dreary day here. Interesting start to fall indeed!
