Yarn Along



Drum roll please.........I am on the collar of my featherweight cardigan! I know most people do not like to knit sleeves but for some reason I fly through them.  I think it is because I know the end is near.  You know, the project is near completion.  I made the sleeves three quarter length and now that itty bitty bit of yarn left over is for the collar.  I do have another skein of Madelinetosh lace in the same color but I really do not want to wind up 1000 yards.  So I might fudge the collar with another green from this project.  If  I do not like the way it looks together then I guess I will be winding lots of lace yarn this week.

This week I am reading How to Knit a Love Song by Rachael Herron.  It is very lighthearted and entertaining so far.  I have to admit I do love all the knitting that is being sprinkled in the story line.  Love and yarn paired together?  Sure, why not!

I finished The Distant Hours and I have to say the ending was spectacular!!  If you have not read the book, it is a must read.  So keep an eye out for it when you are at the library or the bookstore.  You will love it.

I still have not found my lost mitts.  I guess they are lost.  I tore apart the hall closet once, doing it again will probably not make them appear.  I have made a resolution of sorts.  I will not sit in the car and take off my mitts and keep them on my lap!  That is the only way I lost them.

    I can not wait to see you modeling the cardigan! I really want to knit one too and I am planning on it during the holiday break.
    I haven't read The Distant Hours so I will have to pick it up. My reading time is picking back up a little so I need good books.

    Collar=ALMOST DONE!!!! Yeah! It's gorgeous. Can't wait for the ta-dah!

    You HAVE checked all your winter/fall coat/jacket pockets? And your winter purse? and all your knitting bags with UFOs that might have traveled with you? and the glove compartment (do you think anyone actually puts gloves in a glove compartment?) of the car????? (I've found lost things in all those places in the past.....I'm hoping your mitts are just hiding out somewhere!)

    I'm with Tracey - model! model! Bummer about the mitts...seems to be an epidemic. I couldn't find any of my warm things either this year. And it's freezing out there this morning! Sadly, no time to knit my own...too many others to knit for now. I'll just have to buy a pair until I can make my own.

    Love the color of your cardigan! And I may need to check out the book. I've been trying to find a novel that includes knitting to read but all the ones I've tried aren't very good.

    i'm with you on the sleeves karen, i don't mind them and really actually get excited, the sweater is nearing completion! yours is going to be so pretty. i strangely like to wind wool, the swift spinning round and round while the winder softly clicks, mesmerizing...

    I can't wait to see your cardi when it's finished. I've got The Forgotten Garden on my to-read list, and now I'll have to add How To Knit a Loves Song. I hope your mitts show up. My daughter lost her camera charger and we looked *everywhere* for it. Then, about a week after we stopped looking, she found it in a *very* unlikely place :-)

    Such a shame about your mittens! I still have one lone mitten from a pair a friend knit for me - I lost the second one a few years ago but still hope it may magically turn up...

Hopefulness

  Good morning! This week has been busy with classes and routine doctor appointments. The arthritis doctor has a few tricks up her sleeve for some of my dry mouth issues (from my autoimmune disease - Sjorgren's Syndrome) that make me feel hopeful. What was the most important thing during that doctor visit is that I felt seen and heard. I am thankful for her and her team. Speaking of hopefulness, look at my daffodils sprouting up! Some of the daffodils are just starting and some already have a head start. I love winter, but I'm looking forward to spring. The crocuses seem to be taking their time this year, as well as the snowdrops (unless those pesky deer have eaten them, grr). Even though I am still knitting my baby blanket, I have gathered four skeins of potential socks to be and am dreaming of a wonderful sock frenzy cast on.

New Year

  Good morning! How are you? Happy New Year, may this year be full of blessings to all of you. Well now, I finally have an empty home after having our son, daughter in law, grandson and granddaughter here for six nights.  I am still experiencing fatigue and symptoms from the virus even though I am feeling better. It was a challenge hosting family while recovering. Also we babysat the kids overnight (!!) while my son and daughter in law went for little getaway. I am thankful and grateful my Aunt came over both days to help out with the granddaughter who never sleeps during the day. (snack-naps do not count!). They all left early in the morning, and while I was tired, sleep deprived and fatigued, I put away Christmas plus all the toys and doodads you need for babies. Today I am looking at a squeaky clean house. I am planning on reading books and falling asleep while doing so! My exercise routine is on hold as I slowly get better. Maybe next week I can muster up some energy for some yoga
