Yarn Along

This week for knitting I have been concentrating on a floppy (slouchy) hat for either my son or my husband.  I wanted to use up some of my left over sock yarn from previous sock projects.  I striped four different sock yarns during the ribbing section.  I felt that I might run out so I added a fifth stripe in the body of the hat.  Each stripe is four rows.  I think it looks pretty good.  I will not be happy when I have to bury all the loose threads though. Here is my project page. My other knitting is the cold mountain shawl that I started a couple of weeks ago.  I have barely touched it, but I did knit a row or two this week.  I finished a little baby sweater over the weekend that just turned out wonderfully.  I think gray is my new go to color.

This week I am reading The Wednesday Sisters.  This book is a very compelling read.  I am interested in all of the characters and the story flows quite nicely.  She writes about the personal lives of five women and weaves in their current events at the time.  So I get a refreshing history lesson-how nice!

I am joining Ginny at small things.

  1. The Wednesday Sisters sounds like an interesting read.

Mom is bringing me all of her leftover "scraps" from her recent projects when she comes next week(!!). I have plans for all those little tidbits.

I am finding grey and browns to be on my favorite lists now, stange as I have always been drawn to just black.

  6. Adding the Wednesday Sisters to my ever growing queue! I hate all the bits and bobs of yarn I collect. Recently I mailed them to a friend to use in yarmulkes.

  10. Loved that book!

It was so good I gave my copy to my mom to read because she was about the same age as the characters in the book.

  15. i love the way your stripes are coming out and i love those slouchy hats too, so cute.
and i really love grey, i think i went through a period where it became too much (much of my remnant stash is grey), and it's been fun adding color now.

  17. As always I am mesmerized by your knitting....such small needles and thin yarn and perfect stitches. One day.....baby steps right? I want to make a self striping hat too! My daughter just requested leg warmers so I am excited to move from hats to something that might have a use around here! And I have never knitted a leg warmer!

  21. I love your hat! It looks great and I love the colors. Burying threads is such a bummer just when the hat looks done and it fits so nice and your ready to wrap it up and give it away, nope just a few more hours :)

    Good luck,
    Andee

  22. I think you have an excellent eye for color and how to combine them to their best advantage. I wonder if that is something I can learn, or if it's an intuitive thing.

I love everything that you knit :-)

  24. Great idea for using up the sock yarn, and it looks fab :) I'm wondering if you could line the hat, thereby avoiding any end-weaving-in!
