Yarn Along

I've started two new knitting projects this past week.  The first one is the color affliction shawl and I posted yesterday all about it.  I am happy to report that I reached the short row section and have added the third color in the garter stitch knitting-yay!  I will definitely be making this shawl more than once.  It is very easy to knit and talk at the same time. The added bonus is I am not bored to tears with the garter stitch, my guess is the color changing makes it FUN.

My other knitting project is a cowl out of blue sky alpaca.  This pattern is my own creation and I'm not sure if I'm liking the amount of stitches I've casted on.  So, I will be deciding soon whether to keep on knitting or ripping out and casting on all over again.  It would greatly help if I knew for sure if I wanted to wrap the cowl twice around my neck or just once.  The yarn is heavenly to knit with.  Super soft and fluffy!

I continue to read The House at Riverton.  I suspect it will take me quite a while to read this book.  I am enjoying it immensely and the author is very gifted at unveiling a complicated story line with many twists.   I have my daughter home for spring break this week and next week my son will be off-I'm already a slow reader with an empty house so you can imagine that the book is just sitting there during their visits home.

  1. Karen, your needles must be hot from all the knitting you have accomplished. I do love your shawl and the yarn for your cowl looks like it would be a dream to wear.
    Happy yarn along!

  2. The colour affliction shawl is gorgeous, and I think there are times when garter stitch isn't boring - often when colours are involved!

  3. That's it. Gotta do that one!! LOL! Your color combo is looking great. Enjoy your visits! I'm on my way to Dallas later today to pick up my Little Men and their folks! Won't be much of anything done around my house for a couple of weeks. LOL! blessings ~ tanna

  4. You are so busy. Reading about everyone's cowls on the Yarn-Along makes me want to knit one too. Maybe next winter. I'll just admire your one for now.

  7. I'm just loving the shawl so much. I've tried to get a kit for it, but it seems plucky knitter has been sold out for quite awhile. I can't believe that I honestly don't have enough colors that go together in the stash to do it----does this mean I'm making progress on the stash reduction????
Cowl is so pretty, too!!! I loved that book--like all her others--and like all the others, I just never wanted it to end. Savor and enjoy!!!

  10. I love the colors from both projects. Didn't get much reading done here either, which kind of bums me out. Have a good week.

  12. Are you a thrower or a picker? I know I've said this before, but you are so prolific with your knitting! You cast one on and finish before I get four rows done! I expect to see a slow down with the children home ;) Your shawl is looking awesome! Cant' wait to see the finished product...will that be tomorrow? Just kidding...you know I'm just jealous.

Good luck on your cowl pattern. I like a cowl that fits comfortably around my neck twice is oh so nice.

  29. I'm seriously LOVING the color affliction shawl. It's stunning! It makes me want to give garter stitch heavy patterns a try (I was afraid I'd be bored to death, I get what you're saying about the color changes).

  30. I missed your post yesterday - will have to go back and check. I really really like the colors for both projects. That shawl is beautiful - the honey and chanterelle goes so well together. The the cowl looks like wearing a piece of the sky.
