Yarn Along

I have made very little progress on my barnacle sweater, I think it's because I am on size four needles.  I love every single stitch so the progress can take as long as it wants.  I love this yarn!  It is Quince and Co's Tern.  The twist is just perfect and the silk content makes it feel oh so soft!!  I finished all of the stocking ornaments last weekend and posted about it here.

I am on the very last pages of The Tiger's Wife and I do like the book.  I really like how there is a mystical quality about the story line and how neighbor's gossip and stories grow.  I don't really know if there is magic or not but I am fine with that.  It's like reading about Snow White or Cinderella.  You just accept the premise and keep on reading.  Her writing style is lovely.

As you can see in the above photo, I am going to read A Christmas Carol again during the holiday season.  Once a year I like to travel with Scrooge and see his transformation from being an idiot to a caring individual of mankind.  Equally important I thought I would include a photo of the most important food group-candy!!

What are you knitting and reading?

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!!!!

  1. You and my husband would get along so well Karen, he loves his candy too. ;)
I love Tern yarn and really want to order more for a new sweater [this time for me], maybe as a gift to myself? Hmmm, I like that idea.
Have a beautiful day tomorrow with your husband and children.

  2. I've never read the christmas carol but I have it here somewhere, do you think its suitable as a read aloud to my 7 yr old?

The sweater you are knitting is in one of my very favourite colours and the yarn sounds lovely, can't wait to see how it turns out.

    1. Besides the talk and presence of ghosts, I think it's a great book for children.

  6. Quince & Co. is one of my favourites although Madeinetosh is still my very favourite of all not just for its appearance and texture but for its durability too.

I love The Christmas Carol and have an illustrated version to share with the children.

I am also shyly letting you know that I am gifting a magical, wintery novel on my blog this week - The Snow Child. I know how much you enjoy a good book so I thought about you.

  12. I love A Christmas Carol! We listened to it last year on Librivox. I was thinking about doing it again this year. I just popped over to Amazon to see The Tiger's Wife but it got such low ratings. I may try and check it out at the library, as you made me want to read it!

  16. Your sweater is lovely. I love to knit and care less how long it takes if the yarn is to die for and Quince does meet that bill. I too have never read a Christmas Carol, should remedy that.

  17. I was on Quince's website yesterday and almost ordered the same yarn. Reigned myself in at the last minute and decided to wait until after the holidays...
