Yarn Along

I'm still reading The Clover House nearly over half way done.  The book is set mainly in Greece with many customs explained-so I feel that I've traveled without leaving the house.  Since I'm a homebody, I'm enjoying my mind vacation.  Give it a flip through if you see the book.  Of course I'm thinking about all the other books I'd like to start to read.  So many and so little time!!

I finished the socks and the linen scarf, I posted about the scarf yesterday.  I am drawn to big knitting projects with tiny needles, however I do enjoy the short but sweet projects for instant gratification.  The socks are tucked away for the fall and the linen scarf is waiting for me to wear.  I started a new shawl this week.  I scoured Ravelry to find a shawl pattern with only 328 yards in lace weight.  I was tempted to just invent one.  Lucky for me I found this pattern and so far am enjoying the knit immensely!!

What are you knitting and reading this week?

  4. Haha! As a fellow homebody, I completely understand this! My mind vacation is taking me to Kentucky. A little hot and dusty but the characters are full and rich. :)

Beautiful shawl and very cozy color. If that makes sense.

  5. I always feel like I need a shawl on the needles. Let's hear it for us homebodies!

  6. The scarf is quite lovely, so delicate! The edging on the shawl pattern is lovely. Just the right amount of spice to add to that otherwise sensible shawl.

  7. Me too there are so many books on my list and on my shelves that I want to read...
you inspire me to start another shawl... they are so versatile and with our summers never being consistently warm it would probably be worn a lot..hmmmm... have a lovely day!

  8. I must read your book, I am a homebody too. My sister spent several months on Greece, but I know I could never leave my home for that long.

Can't wait to see your new shawl!

  11. I love all the projects! I have a stash of lace weight yarn that was gifted to me. I am a little intimidated by it. Any suggestions?

    1. If you can read charts, Cold Mountain shawl was a lovely knit and somewhat easier to do yet stunning!! If you are not a chart reader then maybe my favorite of all the citron shawl would be a fun first lace weight knit!! both patterns can be found on ravelry and they're free.

  12. I bet you could easily invent a shawl pattern for that amount of yarn. Greece is on my list of places to travel to v

  20. The book sounds great, I love traveling without changing out of my pj's. Glad you found the perfect project for the yarn!

  21. I just looked up that pattern & it is gorgeous! (Except the tiny needles/skinny yarn thing, of course...) ;)

I can't wait to see how it turns out. (I'll bet you finish your shawl with the lace-weight yarn faster than I finish mine with the giant needles and the heavy yarn. Even though I'm already halfway through.) xo

  22. Oh, that does sound like an interesting book. I lived and worked in Greece for a little while. With my long black hair, people often mistook me for being Greek and spoke Greek to me. I well understood the phrase, 'It's all Greek to me!'

Love all your knits. I'm still working on Emerson's purple blanket, little by little. I'm taking it away with me when we go on holidays and hope to make some more progress on it then. :)

  24. I've read many books about Japan when I was younger and feel as though I have traveled there now. Would really like to go there in person one day. But for now, the mind traveling will suffice :)

  26. I also love to travel through reading and am always glad for a new tip! I remember coming away from the library with a whole grocery sack full of books when I was little, and sometimes I still do the same thing!
