Yarn Along

After knitting the quick and easy projects for the children's knitting classes, I've returned to my shawl.  I am at the fun part-lace edging!  Yesterday as I continued the lace pattern and all of my decrease stitches on the wrong side were mixed up.  Then I realized that I was not reading the chart correctly! That is what happens when you set something down and forget about it for a few days.  It was easy to correct the decreases without ripping out and now I am good to go on the shawl.  Phew!

The Hundred Year Old Man etc... is entertaining.  I must say it's a bit slow going for me but I am not an adventure reader of books.  I like psychological family drama (soap opera story lines in print).  I do like the humor that is in the book and as I read I frequently think that this is a book my son would love.  I am going to start reading it during the day as well.  I think a fresh mind would do wonders compared to a sleepy mind.  So if you like adventure, tongue in cheek humor-give this book a flip through.  The translation is not as halting as feared.

What are you knitting and reading this week?

(For those of you who asked-I made a rice and lentil salad with a lemony dressing filled with vegetables-carrots, celery, savory cabbage, cucumber-from the Whole Life Nutrition Cookbook, their blog is here)

Now what on earth will be today's dinner????

  26. I'm working from a chart too Karen, for the Quince Lida Shawl and can't count how many times I've done the same as you over the last few days. I'm trying it out on a different yarn to the pattern before ordering the yarn from Quince. I can't wait for it to come. I'm using Katia, bamboo which is amazingly soft but it splits so much that I try to unravel as little as I can. I can't wait to get on with it this weekend.

Supper ideas? i know...I have exactly the same dilema. If it's not too hot how about a nice vegetable and bean soup like Minestrone. Especially if you make home made bread (if you aren't gluten intolerant). I've just made some three seed spelt flour with pumpkin, linseed and sunflower seeds. It's so more-ish I can't stop eating it. But it's really easy to make. I'll post the recipe when I have time.
