Around Here Moments

Fall is officially here.  Everywhere I look I see signs of it.  The roads are lined with brown leaves, the evenings are cool and the sun feels different when it shines-less intense.  During the day, I have a window or door opened to let in the fresh air (or fall allergies).  Yesterday I drove to pick up our son up for the weekend.  Today our daughter and her boyfriend will arrive then we will have a full house.

Frodo will be delighted to have extra playing and more snuggling.  I've cleaned the house, made beds, and I am as ready as I'll ever be.  Of course I have to make one more run to the grocery store, one day I hope to make "the List" that is comprehensive and inclusive to what I need.

Yesterday's drive was beautiful.  When I was a girl, I thought living anywhere but Pennsylvania would be grand.  Currently I wonder how I missed Pennsylvania's beauty?  The mountains, trees, and rolling hills of farms is quite lovely.  For more than one hour it was only me on the highway and the drive was relaxing, dare I say fun?

While knitting I'm thinking of more knitting ideas.  This time of year I'm quite motivated for selfish knitting and knitting presents for the holidays.  I have a notebook that I scribble down names, ideas, yarns that can all go together.  One day this week in the early morning hours I was chilly and wrapped myself in my pendulum shawl.  I haven't cast on another one...yet.  But I'm gonna.

Hope you have a relaxing weekend!  Any plans?

  1. sounds like that house full is going to keep you busy and happy!!!! ours is (hopefully) going to be quiet...I have to get a bunch of horticulture ready for a show our club is represented at in our zone...fortunately I don't have to go!! and I've already done my stint at our big annual 'bbq on the river' with the candyman....picking up trash!!!!!!!....for a couple hours. (He got double credit for his school with me there....it was pretty funny---we got really tired of picking up cigarette butts---good lesson right there!!!??---and headed to the river for the REALLY GOOD trash! Oh boy!!! I could go back and trash some more, but I think I've had quite enough!!!)

  2. Plenty of fall signs here, too. Cooler mornings and evenings that allow for windows to be opened then - not during the day though, it's still too warm for that. Lots of leaves on the lawn and a garden that is turning brown. My "leftover sock yarn blanket" is almost done and I actually ordered yarn for two new knitting projects. VERY exited about starting them! My plans for the weekend include going walking again in the early morning, taking our youngest daughter to volleyball practice and hopefully getting some yard work done. Enjoy your weekend with the family!

  3. How fun to have a full house, I know you will enjoy this time with your daughter and her boyfriend.
I am seeing signs of autumn here too and was able to turn off the a/c for a few hours. I've never been to PA, but my niece went to college there and loved it, from your pictures it looks very pretty.

  10. Fall? What's that? We went from summer to monsoon to winter. Fall should be back next week but currently it's 42 outside. I had to put extra blankets on the beds for a couple of days! Enjoy your weekend with the family!

  11. How very lovely;) I went to college in Ohio, and I loved experiencing fall there. Crisp breezes, juicy apples, beautiful leaves! We are inching in that direction here, I think...for the past few days it has been cool enough to leave our screen door open and turn the air conditioner off. I don't quite feel prepared for pumpkins and pie, but I am so looking forward to it:)

Your photos are fabulous (love the one of the little lady bug on the goldenrod). Driving down country roads is one of my favorite things to do.♥
