Currently on the Needles

Surprise!  New book and new project :)  Yes I'm still making progress on this sweater and this shawl.  But for some strange reason, I felt like starting another pair of socks this time for me!  No ravelry page as of yet, but soon.  The yarn is online supersocke.  The sad news is yesterday at the very end of the day my left hand started to ache.  So much so that I think I need to ease up on the knitting for a few days.

I have no idea why it hurts but I am suspecting the cotton (yes the dreaded cotton grr) yarn I was knitting with for my swap partner caused some strain.  Fingers crossed it's temporary.

I'm still reading Nella Last's War but nearly finished.  I am enjoying the book but it is slow going for me.  So last night I decided to start The Lavender Garden by Lucinda Riley.  To early to opine but it's also set partially in WWII.  This book is set in the present day and visiting the past to solve a mystery kind of book.  I do enjoy solving past mysteries and family secrets!!

What are you knitting and reading this week?

  2. I such pretty, spring like yarn! I am sorry about your hand. I haven't been doing much knitting this week. My right thumb is very sore from knitting & writing. I think there's some arthritis in it :-(

  5. Such pretty sock yarn! I'm finding that I have to nurse my left hand with all the stockinette in my current project. I actually fell asleep last night and didn't knit a stitch. I'm sure this cold weather isn't helping either.

  6. I do hope your hand is better soon Karen, that is no fun. The first thing I thought when I saw your photo is that your yarn matches your book. I hope you are safe and warm with this storm approaching, all I am getting is rain.

  7. Oh, that pesky cotton! I hope you're back on top knitting form soon.
I have just received some sock yarn called Lavender Fields and it's exactly the colours in your book cover.
Loving the colour of your sweater project.

  11. Oh sorry about your hand. I know how you must feel. I cut my left thumb on Sunday quite badly and it's really hindered my knitting. I'm going to try and have another go tonight but I'm struggling a bit. Mine isn't at all painful though. I feel so sorry for you. Enjoy your book, I love mysteries too.
    Happy reading.

  13. Sorry about your hand. Your sock yarn is really pretty. The book your reading now sounds like it would be light enough for me to read.

  14. NO WAY.....I just finished those very socks...with online supersocke !!!!!!! Take it easy with your hand---cotton can be so hard on them; that, and larger needles. I can never figure out how people knit with those big things---they really make my hands hurt a LOT.

  16. Oh man ... every time my hands hurt from/while knitting I get paranoid that I'll have to give knitting up forever and ever. I hope your pain eases up soon! The color of your sock yarn reminds me of spring. :)

  18. Love the cheerful, spring colors for your sock. Cotton yarn is really hard on my hands too. I usually use a larger needle than recommended when I can and that helps some. The Lavender Garden sounds interesting.

  19. Take care of your hand, Karen- you need it! Cotton is notorious for causing hands to ache. I love your yarn and it is going to knit up beautifully. :)

  23. Can't wait to hear your take on the new book. I love WWII books and am always looking to add them to my queue. Hope your hand starts to feel better. That's not fun not being able to knit.

  24. Still reading the evanovich book: Manhunt;. it is silly but an easy read.

Knitting a hat but first a headband. Then knit options include a shawl on the needles or a vest that make my arm hurt..I have to pace myself on the vest. Cotton yarn ALways upsets my joints

  30. You've gone and coordinated your yarn to your book cover -- clever thing, you! Both look cheerful and engaging, just perfect for February. Perhaps some arnica cream for your hand?
