Documenting Spring

I find myself amazed at how quickly the weather switches to never ending breezy cold and light jacket wearing to sandals, humidity and greenness.  Spring has arrived, flowers are blooming, trees are mostly leafed out.  And yes, I'm grumbling about the humidity.

This week we had a truckload of mulch delivered and our few beds will be getting a bit of a sprucing up.  We haven't mulched in years and the beds are begging for some moisture retention from the sun.  Many of our bulbs are sprouting up and are promptly eaten by the rabbits.  Each day I check to see if there be a blossom....fingers crossed!

Our dirt road is all green now.  The forest floor is covered in  skunk cabbage and may apples, both beautiful in their own ways.  The wild ducks love weaving in among the leaves as they scurry away to hide from me.

Can you see that fish?  He is huge!  He and his friends who are equally large live in the duck pond down the road from us.

  1. The weather is so changeable here as well. I get up in a morning and really don't know what to put on, I have taken to wearing layers so I can add or take away as needed.

  2. The humidity is yucky here too Karen, it's going to be a long, hot summer.

  3. Not looking forward to the humidity we have in the summer either. So far it hasn't been bad at all. Your lilac looks so pretty! We planted one just recently, but I'm sure it'll be a few years before we get any blooms on it.

We've also switched from delightful spring weather to a more humid taste of summer. But I also enjoy how green everything is again!

  8. What a lovely spring! I love how fresh and amazing everything is. You have many beautiful walks ahead :) This year I feel as if I've missed spring almost entirely, we're already seeing temps in the 90s and I'm really dreading summer!

  9. Thank you for visiting and leaving a comment. The first real comment I have had in months!! We had a stormy say here yesterday and the temps have dropped 20 degrees and no humidity. This Florida girl is so happy! ( my parents live in Ga in the mountains and I am so amazed at the daffodils blooming everywhere in the spring!)

  10. Spring is one of my favorite times of year, contrasted deeply with my other favorite, fall. Your weather is what I'm wishing for... it's been raining ALL WEEK here!

  11. Luckily it's not humid here, that's something I struggle with, just gloriously green :)

  12. Yes Spring is here and I have not complained about the heat once. I am going to complain about the days of rain that are coming though - mostly because it will be interfering with my fiber-y plans. That is one big fish!

  13. You live in such a beautiful area, Karen! My mulch is patiently waiting for me to come spread it around in the beds. I had hoped that I'd be able to accomplish that tomorrow, but the forecast doesn't look promising for such an endeavor. Oh well...it will wait a little longer, I am sure.

Love the lilac that is beginning to bloom. This is the first year we've had many bloom to speak of on ours. It smells so good when I walk by. I want to bring some inside to make the house smell good.

    Have a lovely evening, Karen.

  14. Beautiful photos! I love your dirt road and your lilac bush and your pond down the street--what a nice place to call home! I, too, am amazed anew by spring each year. It was in the mid 80s today and humid. I was kind of hoping for a few weeks of 70 degree weather. ; )

What a great shot of that fish!

  15. Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful! I am so happy to see green and flowers after your long winter! Those lilacs are just gorgeous. We don't see a lot of them here, so they're a special treat for me:)
