Currently on the Needles

I've been diligently working on the same two projects, the ten stitch blanket and the red rock canyon shawl.  To be honest, I haven't had much time to knit this past week.  I guess with summer in full swing I am doing other summery tasks.  I also think with my son home, my knitting is interrupted frequently--I'm  not complaining one single bit.  That soon will end when he moves to his new apartment to start a Phd program.  Changes!

I finished Tinkers!!!  And I didn't like it very much....I think it echoed that stream of conscious writing that I'm not terribly fond of reading.  I did find the story about his dad's life interesting but the main character (who is in the process of dying) was not captivating for me at all.  In the photo is The Interestings novel that I bought solely on the cover art.  This book was supposed to be my beach read but David Copperfield horned in on that goal.  I am happy to say that I have started and look forward to the read.

Lastly I won a gorgeous skein of fingering weight yarn made by Little Dyeworks that the beautiful Andi at My Sister's Knitter blog gave away on one of her blog posts.  How lucky am I?  I must say that getting yarn in the mail is the best mail ever!!  I will be balling this skein up within a day or two....I want SOCKS!  Thank you :)

  1. I would love to know your feelings on The Interestings when you finish, it's been on my maybe list so I need to know which way to move it.
My knitting keeps getting interrupted too, but like you I don't mind.:)
Your mail is the best kind, congratulations.

  2. They both look great. My knitting has been my blanket too easy to pick up and put down in-between packing up everything in the house and garden. The yarn is lovely. I such a nice feeling to open up a parcel, especially if it contains yarn.
    Happy balling!

  3. I haven't picked up my knitting since my mom arrived here last Friday and truthfully, I don't see myself picking it up. We are having so much fun catching up and I really want to focus on the time we spend together. :-) I just love both of your projects and the yarn you won!

  31. Thanks for the link to the blanket pattern, Karen. Are those corners difficult? Did you see the cute Pocket Ted? Your shawl is going to be very pretty!

    1. no the corners are not difficult, they are wrap and turns, once you follow the pattern exactly the first time, then you have it memorized, at least for me. I am not reading any pattern, just knitting away!
