Do you love short row shaping?  If the answer is "yes" then you need to knit this shawl.  Seriously the pattern is absolutely entertaining as you knit each section and see the progress.  I've started the first of many short row shaping sections and I'm in love!  Ravelry notes are here.

The knitting has been sparse once again this past week.  We've moved our son but now we are furniture shopping for our daughter's place.  The month of August has been a transitional one for us as parents and for them.  I look forward to sweet endless boredom in September, fingers crossed!

I'm still reading my book from last week, One Hundred Names and continue to enjoy the story. I'm nearly finished and I believe the plot will have a tidy happy ending.  This novel was perfect to read during these busy days.  Easy to pick up and put down and entertaining, really a great escape.

What are you knitting and reading this week?

(Oh and I did finish this shawl and photos with a post will be here shortly)

  2. Oh it's beautiful!! So many shawls (and hats, socks, cowls, etc) to knit and so little time! My queue on Ravelry keeps getting bigger rather then smaller! :-)

  6. That is going to be a lovely shawl! I can't imagine going furniture shopping with our girls for their own place. Time seems to fly by though and I'm sure it'll happen sooner than I want it to.

  9. The shawl is delightful and such a beautiful colour. You will surprise yourself, my girls have been left some time it takes some getting used to but I fill my time with hobbies. I am certainly never bored, you'll soon adjust.

  10. I love what short rows do, but I have yet to master a way to close the gap without being 'obvious'. Wrap and turn and picking up the wrap never really works very well for me! (unless i'm using fingering, I suppose. On worsted though it looks disastrous. haha)

  15. I'm with you on a little boring time come September, I am exhausted. I hope the furniture shopping is going well. I only have one room left to clean out and then the kitchen! Finally seeing a light at the end of all this and then I can paint!
