Currently on the Needles

My knitting has been fast and furious.  Well, sort of, I guess.  I finished the cowl in the photo last night and need to soak and block it today before its photo shoot.  I might make one more cowl or I might not.  I would love to be knitting some other kind of project but I also love the feeling of being almost done with Christmas knitting.

I finished the hat and posted yesterday. Just a quick visit to the post office and another to do errand will be checked off.

My reading is the same, The Mathematician's Shiva, and I'm nearing the end of the novel.  Overall I've enjoyed the book.  As I said last week, the math "stuff" goes over my head.  When my son reads this book over one of his breaks, I'm sure we'll be having some good discussions.  I picked up a copy of Jane Austen Knits magazine.  Oh how I love the designs, lace projects and articles!!

What are you knitting and reading this week?

  2. I've just finished a cowl too and have another new design in view, which I'm excited to make. Also crocheting a sparkly wrap and re-reading The Tenant of Wildfell Hall by Anne Bronte, albeit slowly...

I've seen that Jane Austen book a number of times and like the looks of it. Would be great to hear what you think of the pattern writing when you've had an opportunity to try one or two of them out :)

    1. I do hope to get to some of the knitting one day! I find I tend to flip through and drool a lot before cast on.

  3. I love the Austen Knits magazines. I have them all except the latest one - have to work up to buying them as they are so expensive to post here to Australia!

  4. I just pulled out my Advent/Christmas book to make a plan for the season then I need to empty the cedar chest to see just how much knitting I need to do for the holiday. I am hoping when I see it all written down I will know that feeling of being done with Christmas knitting too.
Love your cowl Karen, you always use the prettiest yarns.

  6. I only knit one Christmas gift this year - an apis dorsata shawl for my mom who is a beekeeper. I know she will love and appreciate all the hard work that I put into it. My sisters-in-law (whom I've gifted handknits in the past) just never seem to appreciate what I make them. So, this year, they will get store bought gifts.

  10. Lovely cowl! I love the colors. I think next year I better start planning to knit for Christmas in the spring because I am just not even going to try really this year - too many small children here for me to have consistent enough to knitting time to guarantee completed projects. Sad, though, because I always dream of giving beautiful, detailed, and personally selected handknit gifts. There will many years ahead for that... right? Haha!

  11. Love your cowl Karen! Again - your colours are beautiful, I'm noticing lots of wine colours in your pics ;) My Christmas knitting has not really happened as early as I would have liked I'm afraid. I do have some quick small projects that I am cracking on with at the moment - so lots of 'fast and furious' knitting happening here too :)

    Have a lovely day.

  18. I absolutely adore those Jane Austen designs. Sue from Mr Micawber's Recipe For Happiness gifted me one of the first magazines published almost three years ago (already?) and I really, really like it.

The colour of the yarn in the cowl picture is quite beautiful.
