Currently on the Needles

The knitting has been prolific these January days.  I hop from my socks, to the scrap blanket, to the shawl and this sweater.  I love having many projects on the needles and choices when I sit to knit.
This sweater has a lovely top down construction, a must when I knit a sweater.

I finished my book from last week, Me Before You by Jojo Moyes.  It was good, really really good!  I think many of us have read it, but if you haven't maybe you should put it on your list.  My daughter finished this book, The Maid's Version over the holiday break, she wasn't thrilled with it but she thought I'd like it.  So I started last night and of course, I cannot opine as of yet.

What are you knitting and reading this week?

  1. You have so many wonderful things on the needles Karen. I have only ever knit top down sweaters, but do have the sleeves of the seamed Acer Cardigan just waiting for a body, ahem.

  10. I have not done much knitting. I will be getting started on those taxes. I feel guilty if I pick up knitting and my taxes aren't ready. :(
I just need to jump in and get it over with! Maybe Sunday afternoon... ;)

  14. I love having several things on the go - it's great being able to pick something that suits your mood.circumstances, rather than feeling you 'have' to knit something because it's the only thing you have on the go. Of course, it helps when your projects are also lovely :)

  19. Hi Karen! Funny you, too, are working with a pumpkiny orange yarn...the third I've seen this morning. I've got many projects in the works and made a list just yesterday to prioritize them as some only need to be wrapped up while others are far from finished. Casting on nothing new until I've got some FO's to share. :) I picked up the first 8 Mitford books (Jan Karon) and plan to re-read through them all. I hear she has a new book out, but I'll hint about that for Mother's Day. ;)

  21. I'm knitting two different pairs of mittens, one of them is almost done (about half a thumb is missing) and the other one is even closer to being done but I run out of yarn and have to wait for a few extra yards from a friend.

I read two books by Sarah Maddison Allen. 1. "Lost Lake" which I liked and 2. "Garden Spells" which I loved so much. Now I am looking for a new book. I preordered two books on iBook, but they won't be out before the 20th of January.

  22. Happy New Year Karen, I'm just getting around to catching up with my blogger friends. I love the rich colour of the sweater and like top down knits too. Your birthday rabbit is cute. Is it an Alicia Poulson form Posie Gets Cosy. I've just began to make some simple fingerless mitts and am pouring over seed catalogues planning my new garden.
    Happy January knitting.

  26. I'm reading The Maze Runner and I'm knitting Common Ground a bulky cardigan in brown. I feel differently about it day to day ... the sweater that is.

Despite your protest, I remain convinced you match your reading / book covers to your lovely knitting projects.

I feel like the internet and blog world is encouraging me to cast on for multiple WIPs. I think that I will require at least 2 cast on this week/end. :)

  27. I adore the yarn you chose!! I just love orange and MUST knit something in orange soon. :-)

  28. Nice projects, Karen! I am working on mitts, a GK hoodie, and a GK jumper and trying to read the Count of Monte Cristo before Jan. 19th; it's huge but better than I expected.

  29. I've added 'Me Before You' to my Audible wish list although I haven't yet finished listening to 'The Signature of All Things', although I'm enjoying that.

Like you, I like lots of pieces of work to choose from, so have several knit and crochet pieces on the go. For the first time in ages, I'm making a knit baby jumper. It is the pattern I used to make my first ever knit garment (start small!) so is a super simple boat neck sweater made in pieces. Just have one sleeve to make and then mattress stitching here I come Has been lovely re-visiting the scene of my first triumph of the needles though! :-)

  30. I've felt the restless urge to cast on... but, still haven't eyed a project I want to do. I keep looking at cardigans... thinking I will see that perfect "comfort" I'm seeking. Until I find it, I'm creeping along with my one crochet project. I LOVE the color of this cardigan. Look forward to seeing you model it soon. blessings ~ tanna
