Currently on the Needles

I finished reading A Tale for the Time Being by Ruth Ozeki, my oh my was it a good book.  I will warn you though, it's a sad-good-hopeful kind of book.  I love how it delved into teenage bullying, writer's block, nature and how we take care of it, generations, mind - body connection.  All good.
I'm still savoring bits of what I'm thinking about. I started a new book, The Storied Life of A J Fikry, and since I am in the beginning, I have no opinions as of yet.

I also finished Daddy Long Legs on my Kindle and it's another novel from my youth.  Apparently I was really into reading about orphans.  This one was a nice walk down memory lane.  I started Pollyanna on my Kindle, another orphan but I never read this one!  I'm sure I'll enjoy it just as much.  The Kindle reading is my knitting time when I'm knitting simple knits.

This week I started another Citron Shawl, because I have been wearing this one religiously this winter. I'm in my happy zone knitting with laceweight wool.  I also like wearing laceweight because it is light and warm.

What are you knitting and reading this week?

  1. I read Daddy Long Legs many years ago, but had forgotten all about it until now.
Love the yarn you are using for your Citron Shawl, that is going to make a beautiful
    shawl.

  2. I started a new project on our way to Atlanta. This one will be a light weight summer top made with a linen blend yarn. Book-wise, I'm in between books right now. Just finished "curly girl" (a how to book for people with curly/wavy hair) and next on my list is "alphabet weekends". The citron shawl is lovely, can't wait to see how your yarn stripes will show themselves in the shawl.

  7. Citron is one of the few things I've made more than once (actually 3 times!!!!).....and The Storied Life is one of my favorite reads from last year.....love the color (of course!) that you're using for Citron; I've only ever made it in a single color. Maybe I need to branch out a bit?

  22. Fun to see that book "in the flesh" as I read it on my Kindle; it's very good. Is that a Zauberball you're using for the Citron? You'll be done in a flash, I know; you are such a fast knitter!

  26. I love your harmony citron shawl, so I checked out the pattern - oh my, that's looks daunting :O I do need a shawl in my life though I think, but I'm going with this one http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/stitch-sampler-shawl which looks like even I can cope with it. Big yarn too so it won't take me a year to knit at my tortoise speed....
