Currently on the Needles

As you can see, I'm nearly to the half way point on my striped cowl.  I'm alternating between this project and my featherweight cardigan.  Before the wedding I craved simple stockinette and now that the wedding is over I am eagerly wishing for some challenging knits.  But first I need to finish these two projects...

My reading is the same as last week--A Year of Wonders, so far so good.  I am wanting to research all about the plague but first I need to finish the book.  My reading time has only been at night and you know that I fall asleep within the first page.  Today, I will dedicate some daytime reading.

What are you knitting and reading this week?

  2. Your cowl looks like a piece of art work, it's that pretty!
I'm glad to see I am not the only one who falls asleep at night while reading. I have now started to read again while I eat my salad for lunch...then I go take a nap ;)

  3. I am in awe of you desiring more challenging knits! :) Dishcloths are the extent of my knitting. I think someday I will attempt something bigger, especially as I check out other people's beautiful projects. I love the easiness of my dishcloth pattern for now. I can pick it up and work on it without much thinking.

Your striped cowl is lovely! I love stripes.

  6. different knits for different 'moods'.....I was so bummed out last night---was at the CandyMan's baseball game with my 'grab and go' knitting and found I failed to grab a page of charts. YUCK. And with him just a 6th grader and starting on both the JV and Varsity teams I was a VERY VERY antsy Grandma without my knitting security blanket. THAT's not going to happen again!!!!

  8. I love the color changes of your cowl. My goal right now is to finish all of my knitting that is going on currently and not buy any new yarn, but come up with a pattern that I want to make for myself before I go to Rhinebeck so I can buy yarn there!

  16. The plague...interesting. I was reading about the history of our village yesterday apparently the black death, the bubonic plague came to England in 1348 and reached the village in 1349 killing most of the inhabitants. Most of the buildings were burnt to the ground to prevent the return of the disease. The village was rebuilt then which probably dates the core of our house to the 1300 to 14000's.

I'm excited there's going to be a archaeological dig in a little field down the road. It was surveyed to build some new houses but something has been found...I'm not sure what but can't wait to find out.

    Happy reading

  17. The cowl looks beautiful! I love the colors, just stunning! I will have to look for the book you are reading at the library. I have such a backlog of books right now! I am currently reading something completely different than my usual reads, "Modern Romance" by Aziz Ansari. It's all about modern dating methods. My daughter told me it would lend insight to what she goes through, LOL! xx

  22. I know that the stockinette is boring but I'm really looking forward to seeing the finished cowl so keep at it please! :D

I'm knitting my Shaded English Rose Tweed cowl (http://www.ravelry.com/projects/thecrimsonrabbit/shaded-english-rose-tweed) for a shivering Aussie in the grip of winter this week, and I'm reading 'Chains' by Laurie Halse Anderson, who I first heard about here on your blog the other week. So far, so good - I'm also waiting for the title your son recommended to be available on Audible, which it isn't yet...

  24. This is wonderful! I want to make a tubed cowl one of these days. I need to redo my orange and black cashmere one. I think a tube would be better.
