Currently on the Needles

I am carefully getting back into knitting after the frantic knitting of this hat for a special someone.  I am savoring the easy knitting of my featherweight cardigan and this simple sock design.  I've been thinking of Christmas knitting and have a few projects in mind in the coming months.  I guess while the heat wave is blaring away, I'm holding off on lots of wool on my lap.

I'm reading We are not Ourselves and the novel is slowly emerging.  Overall I'm interested in the characters but I'm wondering what will happen since the author spends little time at any given moment as he whips through a few decades of the main character's life.  Curious.  The writing is good but I'm only one fourth of the way through and I've lived 20 years of her life!  I'll tell you more next week since I'll be reading this one for a month.

What are you knitting and reading?

  1. Great self striping yarn for your socks! I'm almost done with my Hitofude and plan on buying some sock yarn today. I want to make a pair to send to Tracey and wouldn't you know it, I have absolutely no sock yarn in the house.

  17. It's neat how yarn dyers dye yarn like that for a sock. That is art in itself. The deep maroon of your cardigan is lovely. It's perfect for this fall.

  24. I always enjoy your "in progress" pictures. I noticed from your project page you are knitting socks on US2s. I am currently doing this for magic loop and when paired with the right squashy yarn, it really is a nice needle size. I might have to go back to the 2s. (i've been working mainly with 1.5s) I'm ready to return to cardigan knitting this fall. I have so many ideas of what I want to knit and I'll be lucky to complete one in the second half of the year. It's okay, there are many socks to be made :)

  32. Those are great projects! They look exactly and perfectly right for dreaming about fall! (I feel like I have to be secret about my excitement for the season change. There are only few people you can actually talk to about fall weather with excitement: knitters!!) Have a lovely week!

We are suffering through a heatwave, too. I don't have AC so suffering is definitely the right word!
