Currently on the Needles

I'm nearly finished with reading Gone Girl,  overall a entertaining read but like I said last week, I'm not a fan of the shock and awe writing techniques.  I think I might be a prude... Anyways, I've been reading Taproot during lunch - a wee bit each day to make the magazine last until the next issue.

My knitting has focused on my sweater this week and I have reached the short row shaping of the bottom.  All that is left are two sleeves and the neckline.  Pretty exciting!!  I finished my socks a few days ago but now the weather is warmer so wearing them will have to wait.

What are you knitting and reading this week?

  1. I love the colour of your sweater, it looks cozy too. I have one on my needles too, I am at the other end as I started at the bottom and working up ;), working on the the yoke now. Reading Jostein Gaarder, The Castle in the Pyrenees definitely not crude, and I must be a prude too.....

    Enjoy your lunchtime reading :)

  2. Good Wednesday morning, Karen...your sweater is moving right along. We've had warm weather, too, which is nice, but I'm really ready for a few nice chilly days in which to hunker down. :)

  3. Oh this sweater pattern is so lovely! I just want to follow you around and knit all the lovely things.

  4. Gone Girl wasn't a very good book, as I think it was written to shock, not as a great story. I haven't heard about Taproot, but it looks like great inspiration.

  5. Love this sweater, a useful pattern as it can for anyone. I'm still on Ahmad's but the builder has just left the house and there are only a few outside jobs. So even though it means we have lots more decorating I think there'll be much more knitting going on. I've just started my first stocking filler.
    Enjoy Taproot.

  7. I've loved this sweater from your first post about it....I'd have already cast on, but not sure I want it in beige (the only worsted weight in the stash)....I guess I could unravel something I'm not wearing. (I'm trying to be on a yarn diet....can you tell?)

  8. I always love to see what you've got on the needles. That pattern looks like it makes a nice, cozy, wearable sweater. I'll have to save it to my favorites. Taproot is one of my favorite magazines--what a beautiful cover this issue has!

  16. Fall is beautiful where you are! I have been catching up on your posts this morning and enjoying your pictures (Frodo on the couch! Your kids together with you at the wedding!). You always inspire me with how quickly you are able to finish projects. Your sweater is beautiful in navy. I cannot wait to knit Daelyn for myself! *hugs* :)

  17. Hi Karen! I've been reading Elizabeth Gilbert's book, "Big Magic". I'm really enjoying it! No knitting on my needles but I have been doing a lot of painting and some embroidery work. What is "Taproot"? I've never heard of it and am curious. I hope you are having a wonderful week! xx

  19. Awww Karen...that sweater is going to be beautiful! Can hardly wait to see the finished project! :) I'm right there with you when it comes to not being a fan of the shock and awe writing techniques! We'll just keep company with one another, k? I understand your dilemma about finishing up your beautiful socks and then the weather turning warm again and having to wait to wear them again. I have two pair of hand knit socks and I am happy to report that I did have them to wear when it was colder temps. Never fear...I'm sure we'll both have ample opportunities over the next several months to enjoy them on a regular basis. xo Dianna

  29. Wow, that sweater of yours is growing by the minute! It's going to be a really nice one. I didn't much care for Gone Girl either. I just finished reading X by Sue Grafton; I love mysteries, at least most of them. Taproot is new to me as well.
