Currently on the Needles

Every morning I work exclusively on my sweater while I read a bit.  Slow and steady and completely fulfilling! I tried the sweater on this morning and I think I might redo the bind off of the body but I LOVE it so far.  The binding needs to be a bit looser.  I cannot wait to block this and see what it looks like after the magical touch of warm water and wool wash.

I'm still reading All the Light You Cannot See and I'm enjoying it immensely.  Short chapters are like potato chip eating, just another and another.  In my photo is Flannery O'Connor's short stories and I'm over half way through the collection.  My goal is to finish this book by the end of the month.  Again, I love reading a shorty story a day (while knitting of course!).

What are you knitting and reading this week?

  11. The sweater is looking good! It's always so exciting to get to the final part of a big project. My favourite part is putting it into the tub to soak in some wool wash, then putting it out to dry. I've embarrassed to say I've never read any Flannery O'Connor. I need to do something about that. Have a good week!

  12. Your sweater looks SO comfy. I want to crawl into it.
O'Connor is amazing. Her story "A Good Man Is Hard to Find" is one of the most chilling things I've ever read. Move over E.A. Poe.

  13. Morning knitting...in my dreams! Haha! Your sweater is coming along quickly. I'm glad you're enjoying All the Light. Several of my friends ended up reading it and we had an impromptu book club one morning recently while chatting at church before Bible study. That was so fun. They didn't particularly love points of the plot that I felt reconciled to so it was a lively discussion!

  33. Your sweater is looking great! I read Flannery O'Connor's short stories earlier this year and found them to be dark, gruesome, & very thought provoking. After I finished them I read a couple of her essays on being a Catholic writer and they gave me more insight into her writing.

  36. Your sweater looks so cozy. I think cold weather is just around the corner. I just cast on a pullover called September Morn. Adult sweaters and I sometimes have a hard time getting along so we will see. I also think it is time to cast on some warm mittens. I am reading a light mystery, Quieter Than Sleep. I just finished listening to Circling The Sun (audio download from library.) The narrator was terrific and I enjoyed the story.

  37. Hi lovely lady... I havent started anything exciting yet. i keep making little foxy neck warmers so that by the time winter arrives the neighbourhood kids all have one. i havent found a sock pattern I like yet either. Its too warm around here and we are out and about more than most.
I love the colour of your sweater and i am dying to see how it looks once done.

  38. Excellent book choice, it is on my super long list of books to read. I will get there someday.
Your progress on your sweater is already wonderful. I always look forward to the magic of soaking and blocking. I have a feeling this is going to be one of your favorite knits.

  40. I am currently reading nothing because I'm still in the midst of the fall cleaning. I finished up the shawl I was crocheting last week and started a new one last night...totally different pattern and one I can see already that I will not be memorizing...but I think (I hope) the end result will still be good.

  41. I cleaned the bathrooms and that was my fall cleaning ha ha. I did such a big clean for the wedding weekend that I'm not cleaning like that for quite a while :)

  42. I love short stories too. A while back, I was given a copy of "Wild Comfort: The Solace of Nature" by Kathleen Dean Moore. I enjoyed it greatly, I very mch recommend it. I have been re-reading "The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up: The Japanese Art of Decluttering and Organizing" by Marie Kondo. Her technique is interesting. I had read her book all at once last Spring and now that I'm ready for some decluttering again, I'm re-reading it to prepapre the purge. I've been knitting neckwarmer after neckwarmer for Xmas presents. It's been fun.
