Currently on the Needles

I know, this photo looks a lot like last week's photo.  However I have finished one super secret knitting project and I'm on the second (out of three).  Super secret means I can't tell you about it, but let me assure you it's pretty exciting :)  I am enjoying knitting with Galway yarn and the stitches just glide from one needle to the next.  bliss!

My reading, well I tried my best to finish the book yesterday and didn't.  I even read during the day!  I know I'll finish today.  At some point half way through this book, I became totally invested in the characters, the sadness, the hopefulness and the resilience of the story.  This is a GOOD book, so you should read it if you haven't yet.

What are you knitting and reading this week?

  1. I need to get that book! I have heard so many good things about it, it has peaked my interest. Super secret knitting, how fun! I've been so busy since we got back from our Thanksgiving trip, I haven't even had the time (or energy) to pick up my needles. Sadly, tonight doesn't look like I'll be able to either... Thankfully the weekend is only a few days away. :-)

  5. That book is on my list to read! I'll have to get it from the library. Unfortunately I am not knitting anything for Christmas- the only person who appreciates it is Miss C.

  16. I have to thank you for posting about this book when you started reading it - I borrowed it from our local library and read it like I've never read anything before! I could hardly put it down. I love reading fiction which teaches me about history too. There was only one bit which really disappointed me, but I won't say what it was or where and spoil the story for others. Even that disappointment wouldn't stop me heartily recommending it though. Thank you again for bringing it to my attention.

  21. I am so glad to read that you consider All the Light We Cannot See worth reading. I STILL haven't gotten it back from my daughter but look forward to when I can finally start it. I just finished reading Anne Beattie's short story anthology "The State We're In". I rarely read short story anthologies and really enjoyed it!

  24. Still working on secret knitting and not doing much knitting. However, I finally realized that the author of your book also wrote Four Seasons in Rome which is about the year he spent there with his wife and infant twins. I loved it.

  27. Can't wait to see your super secret knitting! I know whatever it is it will be lovely. I am not familiar with Galway yarn--must check it out. I read your book, last summer, and found myself thinking about the characters for days after finishing, It was a very impactful book.

  29. I've read such mixed reviews on this book, but even if I wanted to read it (someday), I simply don't have the time to pick up a new novel right now. But that's not a bad thing, just a busy life thing. :) My knitting is primarily all Christmas gift knitting except I finished a wee test knit for a church friend yesterday -- a mug cozy. Super cute and a quick knit! Hope your weekend is quiet and filled with lots of stitching!

  30. So, how did you like the book? I'm 60 pages from the end now and I can barely put it down. I'm thinking nice cup of tea and I finish it before bed tonight. It,s been a wonderful read! First novel in a while, felt good to just get lost in it.
