Currently on the Needles

Last week, I started a sweater for myself.  I loved this cardigan so much I'm knitting another one!  I love Quince and Co yarn and I'm delighted to be knitting with it once again.  Santa was nice enough to give me some during the Christmas season :)

Are you surprised I'm not reading Station Eleven? Well I finished it and over all I liked the book.  The ending was sort of "meh" for me but I still recommend the book.  So in the spirit of reading out of my comfort zone, I started Life as We Knew It.  My son read it over the holidays and recommended it.  Instead of an epidemic wiping out most of the civilization, the moon has been hit by an asteroid and has shifted closer to Earth.  For some reason an epidemic is more believable than the moon shifting but I'm enjoying the chaos and the panic. Who knew I would enjoy apocalypse stuff!!

What are you knitting and reading this week?

  5. I haven't trip non-linen Quince yarn, but I want to even though it irritates me that it is such a pain to come by. I love their colors. I am glad Santa has good taste. I finally finished my book last night...am in the market for a new one.

  6. How lovely that you've decided to knit yourself another pretty cardigan like that! And this time in a more mute and versatile colour - great addition to your beautiful knits :-)

  7. Sounds like an interesting read and the sweater is going to be wonderful. I've been looking at blue yarn for a cardi, just need to finish my socks and then I have another hat I want to knit first.

  8. I must try some Quince and Co yarn, I first became familiar with through Ginny's blog, but see that it's stocked here in England. I must seek some out!

  10. I am in awe of your knitting skills...that cardigan is super pretty and now your making another one! I love the color of your Quince. That book may be something I'd like to read. I am kinda in that end-of-world mode! I will check it out. Have a great week!

  12. Wow....that is really pretty. You are like the third person who has recommended Quinve and co. to me. Their website always has such beautiful yarn.
And lucky you, getting more stash during the holidays! Someone loves you dearly!

  13. Love the cardigan and your choice of colour yarn. Looking forward to seeing the finish. A great gift getting yarn, Santa was good to you. Sounds like a great book. I am not reading much at the moment, life seems to be taking over.

  14. Sounds like an interesting book - right up my alley but I do feel sorry for the moon. :( I love the colour of your yarn! I have yet to make anything resembling a sweater but I may begin something soon for my husband. He will be my test subject. :)

  16. I hope to find some Quince & Co. yarn in Februrary. Woolful had a great podcast on that family yarn company. She interviews the son, who's the CFO of Quince & Co.

  20. Oh those both sound very intriguing books and I love the yarn, it's such a great colour for wearing all the time, which is what you should do with lovely yarn like that!

  21. Love that colour. One day I will knit with Quince and Co yarn :)

  22. What a pretty yarn color. I love Quince yarn too... I have knit a few small garments from it but someday maybe I will be able to make myself a sweater or something from one of their yarns! It's going to be beautiful!

  23. LOVE the color of your lastest cardigan! Have you read Dooms Day Book by Connie Willis? I think you'd like it! John Adams is still my current read; it's huge but interesting. And I have a book from the library on my Kindle and the days are going by, but I have to finish JA!

  24. AHA! No wonder I was drooling over that yarn - I adore Q&Co. yarn. All of their yarn is just such a pleasure to work with and Tern will make the most beautiful, wearable sweater. Lucky you!!

  25. Oh such a lovely color for a cardigan and it will be as equally beautiful as your first one :)

  26. That is the perfect colour for a cardigan that pattern looks lovely. Enjoy your knitting!

  27. I don't blame you for wanting to knit a second Kelp. It is a gorgeous pattern.
I'm so glad you liked Station Eleven, since I crowed about it so much. I read Life as We Know it some years ago, and I really like it, too. There are a couple sequels to it, which I haven't read yet.

  28. Quince and Co.! I love that yarn but have never knit myself something with it. Maybe I should remedy that. My knitting took a turn for the worse the other night and I hope to get my mojo back tonight at knit night with my friends after work. My reading taste right now is calling for a sweeping over time drama-which is sitting right on my nightstand ready to be picked up. I have not tried much apocalypse stuff but I do like those kind of movies!

  37. You may enjoy The Last Town on Earth by Thomas Mullen. A town shuts itself off from the rest of the world to prevent a deadly illness from infecting the people. I really enjoyed the audiobook.
