Currently on the Needles

Good morning!  I'm happy to report that I finished that large novel, The Once and Future King on Monday.  What a long book, technically that is four books published under one title but whatever, it counts as one large book on Goodreads.  I enjoyed the story and being in the land of Camelot.  This book was outside my usual genre reading and I'm proud that I stretched my tastes.

The book I'm currently reading, The Daughter, is  mystery thriller kind of book.  So far, it's quite tame and not nearly as long as the previous book.  I only just started this novel on Tuesday so I don't have a formed opinion.

I started a hat for my holiday knitting!  I am loving knitting on tiny needles with thin yarn.  Hopefully, I'll have some serious progress to share next week.

What are you knitting and reading this week?

  1. When you set a goal for yourself (finishing Once and Future King), you achieve it! That is a lovely shade of green and looks like it will become a soft and warm hat.

  5. I have started a few gifts and am enjoying the process, I just can't seem to get back into reading at the moment. Although I am enjoying browsing some of my cookery books for inspiration.

  6. Congrats on finishing Once & Future King. It's a big book to tackle if you aren't into the subject matter. The Daughter sounds interesting. Can't wait to see how your hat develops.

  9. Ooh! I can't wait to see more; I'm totally curious about the color scheme you'll use. Thank you for introducing me to that design; added it to my faves and a few others. Great job on finishing that tome. This one will be a good change. I want to read a proper mystery once I finish these YA's. I had to fix my little sister's Simple Skyp sock. Had to rip back some and then unknit more to figure out what the hell was goin' on. I'm okay now.

  10. Ooh, I love the mossy color of your new hat! One of my favorite autumn colors. Your new book sounds interesting. I am nearly finished with The Nature of the Beast, by Louise Penny. It has been so good! Apparently it is part of a series. This is the second most recent one; I am planning on going to the library to see if they have the others. Have a wonderful rest of the week!

  11. I love knitting like that too. I am quite happy to knit a 4ply jumper for myself - I prefer the way they wear. Love the hat and colour. I really enjoyed TOAFK - but I adore anything about King Arthur.

  15. What a pretty colour and some gorgeous yarn. I'm going to have to track down The Once and Future King; I love tales of King Arthur and Mary Stewart's Crystal Cave series has long been a firm favourite :)

  16. I think it's awesome you read outside your usual genre. Honestly I'm impressed with people that keep up with their reading. It's so hard to find the time! Then you double down and have started on the holiday gift knitting, sheesh. Lots of good stuff in your neck of the woods. Can't wait to read your review on the new thriller :)
