Currently on the Needles

I've been quite pleased with finishing all of the Christmas knitting.  In fact, I even started to focus on some of my selfish knitting (for me, you know).  Then I remembered I wanted to knit a hat for my nephew to give to him over the New Year's weekend.  So technically this isn't "Christmas" knitting.  However, I love having another easy deadline to meet!

I am using the wurm pattern once more,  I LOVE to knit this hat pattern up!!

As you can see, I'm slogging through Alexander Hamilton, I love this book and thoroughly enjoy reading about this country's history through the eyes of one founding father.  I have high hopes of finishing the book before the end of the year.  I've picked up my reading, trying to read when I even have five minutes to spare.  I'll keep you posted if I finish or not.

The Commonwealth novel is almost done!  I thought the beginning was a bit slow but the middle picked up some.  I'm interested to see if the author wraps up with a satisfied ending....I'm having some doubts but we'll see about that.

What are you knitting and reading this week?

  1. I have yet to knit the wurm hat, maybe I should cast one on for me now that that Christmas knitting is complete :)

  2. Great that your Christmas knitting is finis!! I'm still working on son's socks...the Wurm pattern is one I've been meaning to try out -- perhaps when I finish the socks.

  3. I found out 10 days ago that my nephew wants a Ravenclaw scarf for Christmas. I have been knit fast and furious in between all of my other goings on to get it finished!

  4. I love this onslaught of smaller projects you have been working through at warp speed. Wishing you the very best with the lovely blue yarn and the (hopefully) final hat. Merry merry.

  5. Hmmm, Commonwealth sounds like it might be a bit of disappointment. I find that most authors only have a few good books in them -- and the rest are mediocre. Thinking here of Ann Tyler and Alice Hoffman.

  10. I know very little about that president. Do you have any desire to see the musical after reading the book? It is the same guy, right? I should just keep my mouth shut...

    1. I definitely want to see the musical but it will be quite a while!!! The tickets are expensive and my time to travel is limited due to my husband's job.

  12. Commonwealth was a three-star book for me, certainly okay, just not great. That is a lovely blue that you're knitting with; you must have the Wurm pattern memorized!

  14. I have begun knitting a scarf to go with my brother's hat but I fear that I won't finish it time, I'm just not that quick a knitter! I'm still working on Little Big Lies, it's kind of predictable but entertaining nonetheless. : )

  15. I loved Commonwealth! I agree that the beginning was a bit slow, but once it picked up in the middle it was smooth reading for me.

  16. I haven't knitted the Wurm pattern but I did knit something similar to it long ago out of Karabella Yarns in a green colorway. I ended up sending it to Canada since a green hat is superstition in Chinese culture.
