Currently on the Needles

Good morning!  I'm reading another book and feel like I'm just whizzing through each one.  That's what happens when you read a long non-fiction book.  Anyways, I received this book as a Christmas present and only just started reading last night.  So I have no opinions.

My knitting has been making steady progress.  The socks are slowly showing the stripe and I've tried three times to get the stripe to be straight.  I gave up and decided that a swirl is what it is.  Oh well.  My asana shawl is still at the increasing stage and now that I've got many stitches on the needles, the knitting is soothing and relaxing. Oh and I finished my citron and posted yesterday!

I'm contemplating a sweater cast on....but not sure which one I'll do.  I want it to be a cardigan in fingering weight that is top down construction.  If you have any ideas that fit the criteria, let me know in the comments.  I also have some sport weight wool too.

What are you knitting and reading this week?

  1. A swirl sock can be pretty too ;)
The Asana shawl is a beautiful pattern, looking forward to see how yours will turn out.
And your citron from last post is so pretty. I knitted one years back when the pattern first came out, but I must have used to small needles because it turned out way to small for me..

  2. I love your current purple knitting, even if your socks are swirling, though contemplating a fingering-weight cardigan makes me a little anxious. It takes me forever to finish anything in fingering, but I'll look forward to you doing it!

  3. Another book title to check out. I think the swirl is fun. I started a fingering weight sweater but I am such a slow knitter that I ended up taking it apart and making another shawl.

  5. Purple knitting is peaceful, and it looks so cheerful! Top down, fingering weight cardigans - hmmm, Hitofude comes to mind - and has been knit many times if you want something lacy this might be perfect. Woodfords by Elizabeth Doherty if you are looking for a more conventional cardi - and she writes a beautiful pattern with well fitting shoulders for top down construction. And, finally, if you are looking for a button front cardi - I think that Yoko Johnston's Ivy Line is beautiful! XO

  6. Your socks aren't what I expected that yarn to knit into but I like the swirl. I can't wait to hear what you think about that book. It sounds like it will be really awesome, or really, really bad. I'm curious to know which way it swings.

  7. Amibitious!!! A sweater!! Im knitting socks in Dee's Take Five pattern. Sock number one done. ENjoy them. They are shorties as I'm worried about yardage.
Fireman is reading WILD, the book the movie was made about. He is really enjoying it. That's a big compliment.
I'm skimming through Sweater QUest. I had no idea Alice Starmore had such a handle on her copyrite and yarns. It is a bit funny and it is an easy read. I don't like the TV on all day, so Its a good thing to have her book handy.

  13. What pretty knitting! And that book looks interesting.
I have 2 fingering weight sweaters that I love, and both have top-down construction, Garden Party Cardi, and Open Cloud Cardigan, both are available on Ravelry.
    Happy Knitting!

  15. I am knitting my first top down cardigan, just cast in on last month. It is a Ravelry pattern, called Heathered. The instructions are so thorough, which I am loving as a first time knit in this method. Check it out! I hadn't knit a garment in so long....

  16. You are putting me to shame with the amount of books that you are getting though and you are certainly getting through the knitting, your needles must be on fire...

  18. I've not heard of that title. Interested to hear how it goes. I can only imagine your fun trying to make the swirl turn into a stripe. I think the swirl looks good. What busy needles you must have.

  19. I'm also in sweater knitting land, I want to knit them all! I have a worsted weight one on the needles that I want to ready for Stitches West in a few weeks. I need to make some more progress on it this weekend. -Sierra
