Twists and Turns

Autumn keeps taking twists and turns with its fickle weather.  Yesterday it was nearly 80 degrees (boo).  I'm taking it all in stride - I know that the cold weather will be back soon.  We drove to Newark DE on Tuesday and took the scenic route that was lovely, serene and oh so fallish beautiful.  The scenic route is always better.

Yesterday, we attended the Covered Bridges Arts Festival at Knoebels.  I ate food more than I shopped the craft displays and I wish that it was the other way around.  Walking through the pavilions, I'm inspired to craft more.  Having company here for the last few weeks has curtailed my creative pursuits and I'm itching to get back to my groove.

Speaking of twists and turns, my back is acting up and I've been in some pain.  I haven't been able to sit comfortably for two days so my knitting has been set aside temporarily.  However, today I am feeling pretty good overall so maybe I'll knit a stitch or two at the kitchen table.

I could just kick myself for quitting the back exercises the PT assigned me in May.  How foolish of me!  Don't worry though.  I am once again doing them, as well as my daily yoga routine.  I am seeing slow progress and less pain so I know I'm on the right track.

This weekend is our last weekend with the kids being here, they plan to move into their townhouse on Monday.  Their belongings will arrive later in the week.  I loved having them here, what an opportunity!  I am also looking forward to life getting back to same old, same old.

  1. It's hard to make time for back exercises when you're feeling good, but my PT said the pain would remind me if I stopped, and he was right. And to have this affect your knitting is even worse! Enjoy your last weekend with your daughter and sil, and I wish them an easy and smooth move.

  6. Oh I hope your back feels better soon. I know I should stretch more but it's never enough or when I should've if that makes sense. I would be very pleased having a snack or 2 and that art fair!! Sounds like a good time. I'm glad you had a nice time having your family on site. But I'm glad you get your "normal" back too.

  7. I too learned the hard way that you can never stop those back exercises. I have sciatica and whenever I get lax with my exercises, I suffer from it. Your DE trip sounds delightful. Scott and I are trying to decide where to visit locally to enjoy the fall (hot) weekend. Enjoy your crafting. I hope you can get more than just a few stitches done on that pretty knitting.

  11. I hope you can get back to your knitting and crafting soon. I can relate to the back pain, as I've been suffering the last couple of weeks. When you can't sit for long you want to do all the things that require sitting! Best wishes, xx

  14. We had family too - a week of laughter, playing, walks, and visits to the park. After the initial shock of quiet, I am enjoying putting the house back in order. Every time I find a hot wheel car I smile.

  15. Good to hear your back is doing better. I often kick myself for not taking better care and listening to the wisdom of providers.
What a beautiful little outing you took us on. I want to hug the pony to bits. Then there is always love for Frodo.
