Weekends

sunrise Saturday
Hello!  I'm sitting here with my laptop and feeling giddy about all the chores I've completed today.  A much needed vacuum and a successful one where the pets were managed as they ran away but not one chasing the other.  I'm getting pretty good at navigating the zoo.  Sometimes.  I lost the plant eating stand off - the shamrock plants are in my bathroom away from the cat.  I decided to pick my battles and shooing her away wasn't a battle I wanted to engage in.  Did she win or did I?

Yesterday, we met up with our daughter and son in law at a half-way driving point for lunch and a bit of shopping.  Did I take ANY photos?  Of course not, I was 'in the moment' since our time together was an afternoon then we said goodbyes and headed home.

Today, we took a walk with Frodo down the 'dirt' road that is paved.  For years we've called it the dirt road when it was a dirt road, so that's the name.  Look at all the brownness in the landscaping.  The winding creek that runs along side of the road was trickling away and shimmering under the blue skies.

I also washed the kitchen/hallway floor, I won't mention how long it's been, it's a disgraceful amount of time.  They are squeaky clean now and even little Holly stopped and sniffed the cleanness, is she judging me?

I finished the little cardigan and it's drying in the studio.  I can't wait to show you all!

How are you doing with the time change now that it's been a whole week?  I am still dragging myself out of bed!  I'm enjoying the sunlight and the longer days though, I guess it's a nice trade off.  I have some menu planning for the week before I can resume knitting my hat tonight.

How was your weekend?

  1. What a beautiful sunrise. It's always hard to adjust to the time change but I love having longer evenings to enjoy. Looking forward to seeing the finished cardigan :)

  3. Look at Frodo, king of that cushion. What a beautiful view you caught. I guess we're adjusted by now to Daylight Savings. I like the colorway you're working with for your sock. I planned to sew today but I just may knit on Harry.

    1. Oh, and sometimes one doesn't have time to read until right before bed. I switched to knitting during the day so I'd slow down on books but I'm waiting for my turn on the holds lists.

  4. Well, the time change got me that is for sure - I wish it didn't happen the first weekend of spring break, because I have slept in every day since and now I am back to teaching tomorrow and not adjusted.
I love your green hat, and hearing about your adventures. You took some lovely photos!

  5. I'm still struggling with the time change. I wish we could stop this!
Holly looks and acts so much like Kola. Maybe it's something in those rare female orange kitty genes.

  6. I’m still dragging in the morning too. We had lots of sunshine this weekend so that helped.

  9. Photos are nice, but I think in-the-moment is nicer. I love the Antler pattern; it's perfect for almost everyone from baby to adult. Yours looks great in the Tributary yarn!

  10. The cables on that hat are stunning! You've inspired me to do a deep clean... or at least mop the floors ;)

  11. I'm still struggling with the time change, so you are not alone. My weekend was very busy with church activities. I helped set up for a St. Joseph's Table meal & baker's auction on Saturday afternoon, sang in choir for 8:30 Mass on Sunday, then rehearsed our youth choir for Easter, served food at our St. Joseph's Table meal (a fundraiser for SVDP), and went to a cantor & choir rehearsal last evening to prepare for Holy Week & Easter Vigil...phew! I'm staying home to do laundry & house cleaning today.

  12. I love that picture of Frodo! Cats and plants... mine never ate plants, but my daughter has given up on plants because her cat keeps eating them. She tried giving him his own plant, but he prefered to have a choice, I guess ;-)
Our time change is next weekend, but I probably won't notice since I'll already have a 5-hour jetlag ;-)

  13. I am definitely enjoying the longer days.. now if only it would start to warm up soon too.
It's nice to have a half way point meet up.. my great aunt and uncle live about an hour and a half away from us.. and they find driving up difficult and with the boys I feel like I never have enough time. So the last few time we too met at a half way point, had a long lunch and it was perfect.

  14. I cannot have indoor plants either. The cats just eat them. I have that one geranium from fall that is inside and they leave it alone.......
I can't wait to see your cardigan. My weekend was busy bothdays. One at the barn, one in the woods athome. I have to keep busy during the last day s of winter or I get a bit down. Everyone else seems relieved it is March, but it is the month that is toughest for me. Over half done with you MARCH!!!

  15. Tyg leaves our plants alone...but of course, he goes outside, so has plenty to play with out in the wild. Loving your Antler hat - very pretty.

  16. What a beautiful sunrise! Won't it be nice when the brownness in the landscape gives way to green? It sounds as if you are making progress with Holly and Frodo. I am still wanting to sleep a little later in the mornings. Ahem - it is time to get over that and obey the call of the alarm. I like the look of that hat. I also decided it may be time for some smaller projects.

  17. Our weekend was a different one. Friday was my brother's surgery so I tried staying busy all the time until I heard how he got along. Yes, I was trying to trick myself into believing that I wasn't worrying. :-) We also had a minor (which could have turned into a major) crisis here at home, but got that all straightened out. Whew! That afternoon and evening I did a lot of sleeping and slept soundly that night. Sunday was church.

  18. I know how you feel. My bathrooms are sparking for the first time in a month! (eeek) Looking forward to seeing the cardigan. I love this time change and adjust almost immediately. The fall transition will not be as smooth. You know I love seeing Frodo!
