Weekends

Hello!  How was your weekend?  If you live near me, I know it was a hot one.  Crazy!  All you summer lovers out there are probably blissing out.  I'll sound like an old lady but I remember when heat waves only happened at the end of August or early September.  Ah, the good old days...

My weekend was great, I finished the top book in the pile and now can read Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine.  This is a self imposed reading rule that is completely arbitrary.  Honestly, if I started Eleanor I would never finish the ghost gothic murder mystery book any time soon.

Today while doing the weekly laundry, I decided to wash Frodo's bed which fell apart in the washer.  I was excited to do a pet shopping outing to replace the bed and buy some new toys!  I bought Holly some toys to chew on (so she stays away from the yarn).  That sweet little frisbee shaped like a fish is for Frodo, who was thrilled to have a new toy.

We started pricing fencing pieces to fix what the bear broke over the winter when he was adventurous.  We have an electric fence farther out towards the woods that should (??) deter him from busting through the vinyl fence.  What a stinker.  There has been no evidence of his/her existence for months, let's hope it stays that way.

I am able to sit (finally) and have tried to knit off and on the past two days.  I am slowly able to do knitting for longer periods without my back going bonkers.  I am so grateful!!

My husband power washed all around the pool and the back steps :)  This job seems to occur every three years.  Last time was right before the wedding!

Little Miss Holly thinks she is hiding when she sits there behind the blinds.  It's one of her favorite spots to sit and watch the world.

How was your weekend?

  1. Knit ... drink water ... knit ... drink iced tea .... knit ..... well, you get the drift.

Little Holly is so adorable. Giroux likes to sit in the blinds too.

  3. Holly is too funny! Our weekend was hot and I loved it. We got on our new paddle boards. The water was not ice cold and felt refreshing when I fell in once! I took Bea and Tank to the PEtco for low cost rabies shots. I m saving for an echo of Pie's heart, so I opted for the clinic. Beatles wailed in the car. Tank was a good boy. I had to go twice because I could not leave one in the car due to the heat. It is only a five minute drive. Thank goodness`!

  4. Glad to hear your back is healing and that knitting is back on the agenda. What a relief that there have been no more sightings of the bear (not sure I would be able to cope) I complain about the rabbits.

  6. The heat is getting to me too...ex-northerner that I am, I think 65 degrees is on the warm side!!! Temps here have been into the 90s all week....but with the humidity well over 50% our heat index has exceeded 105 every day. I'm dying. I drink...I water the plants....I drink....I water the plants. (One of life's mysteries, though, is.....my good plants die in the heat, and the weeds thrive....I don't get it!!!) Sort of tired of the whole thing!!!! Blah. Who can knit in this kind of weather?!?

  9. Glad you are able to sit and knit again! The weekend was stinking hot for sure and I must be insane because I picked yesterday to scrub the kitchen floor and both bathrooms. I looked like a drowned rat when I finished.

  10. It's been super-hot here in Wisconsin as well. Not my idea of nice weather but I know there's a lot of people who enjoy it. I spent a lot of time with my feet up as I'm 7 months pregnant and this heat makes my ankles swell up like no one's business! At least I have stuff to knit and read. Stay cool!

  12. I'm glad your back is doing better. Your weekend sounds delightful. Frodo's new toy is pretty cute, reminds me of a toddler toy. Dogs are kinda like toddlers, right? And Holly, she's just the cutest. I've enjoyed her chronicles from day 1.

  13. I love how Holly "hides" in the blinds :-) and that pile of journals with your knitting (top photo) makes me smile. What a lovely setting to think and create!

  14. We always have heat waves in Indiana in July, and then they last until September!! LOL I think we just were used to it because we didn't have AC when I was a kid. Hope you find some relief.

  15. Yay for new toys! I love your pool. My fifth grader would love to swim there every day. We are getting 80's here in the east bay. We've been using the air every day.
