Weekends

Do not be fooled into thinking I am starting a new project, I swear I just balled up the skein and perhaps picked out the pattern.  I did not start...yet.  You and I both know it's only a matter of time.  I'd love to finish one more of my other three projects but those three projects are lots and lots of knitting and will not be done in the near future.

Sometimes you have to cave into temptation.

How was your weekend?  Mine was interesting.  We stayed home, which you know very well thrills me to no end.  I love being home!  There's no place like home.  The hot weather arrived and I've been inside the whole time ignoring that rotten weather.  Why can't summer stay at a comfortable temperature?

Sorry to all of you summer lovers but I cannot wait until a frost, some cold wind and snow.

My weekend was slow and mostly uneventful, I'd like to bottle up the uneventful and save it for a day that is crazy busy.  I read some, I knit more and completed cleaning the house in record time.

Saturday night, we attended Mass then picked up a pizza at the local pizza shop.  We are now into watching season 5 of The Americans - this show is good and interesting.  I feel sorry for the bad guys sometimes and then I feel sorry for the good guys.

I hope you are having a great weekend - what's new?

  1. Sometimes I think we were separated at birth, we think so much alike!

  2. weekends at home are the best! I've just done that too. Read a book from start to finish, cross stitched and attempted to find the hidden motivation to start some university assignments. No knitting though... i'm thinking about what to start next...

  3. I only have two weeks of summer vacation left! Hopefully my Cozy Stripe blanket will be finished by then. I want to start new projects. I’m also trying to change from blogger to Wordpress. My new blog is www.lisafaules.wordpress.com. Now the challenge of learning something new.

  4. That new pink yarn is almost too beautiful to just sit there tempting you. Maybe we should take bets on when you'll have to give in and cast on! I, too, am waiting for even the briefest hints of cool weather, but it isn't going to be this week, or probably next week either. :-(

  5. Sometimes when I have large projects on the needles I have to cast on something that shows progress more quickly - just for a break. That pink yarn looks mighty tempting to me. Friday evening we went out for ice cream. I went to the library on Saturday and picked up an Interlibrary Loan, a mystery, and a new book on knitting mittens by Kate Atherly. Church and coffee this am. Simple meals that didn't heat up the kitchen. The fresh fruit is so good right now.

  6. I guess since I lived in Florida so long, people expect I would love summer. I'm with you. I can't wait for cooler weather and less humidity.

That yarn looks so pretty. I think I would be tempted to cast on NOW!!! LOL

  7. Hi! It has been so long since I stopped by and wrote anything on my blog.
I love uneventful weekends. They have resortative powers. I hope we all get some cooler weather soon. I am not made for these hot days. Here's a peek at our weekend: https://throughourgardengate.blogspot.com/2018/08/weekends.html

  10. I am feeling the same urge to cast on something new! Ha! And, we spent a weekend at home too and, yes... it was just so very nice! And!! I just downloaded Pachinko from the library! I am sending you thoughts for a most amazing week!

  11. We have the most fickle weather this year. Right now, the skies are thick with smoke from wildfires and it is cool, with a tiny breeze. The heat will return by weeks end and we hope the wildfires are under control by then. I just read Pachinko and thought is was a very interesting family saga. I need to start a shawl for a friend who has breast cancer. I knit all my strength and healing thoughts into the fabric and make it to wrap my friend in love.

  13. I am looking forward to those cool & crisp Autumn days! I went to our Farmer's Market Saturday morning, was the cantor for 5pm Mass, and spent the rest of the weekend indoors and out of the heat and humidity. That pink yarn is so lovely!

  14. I know Autumn is inching closer but I'm such a Summer girl that I'd like for it to stay a bit longer. I'm with you on staying home though. It' s the best place to be. Happy knitting.

  15. Ours was crazy busy with showers and dinner out with friends. Then I got home and had to take Diva Girl to the men center to get her some meds for a viral issue. Poor dear, colds go to her head and chest so easily we didn't want it to get worse. She is doing better today!

  16. It's funny - I crave a calm, uneventful lifestyle and yet, I'm at my best when life is drama filled.

Can't wait to see the new project. I'm not normally a pink lover, but that skein looks like it's about to turn into something gorgeous.

  17. That color of yarn is gorgeous! Really speaks to me!! I am a homebody also. And hot weather is something I really dislike! I went for a walk yesterday - it was so hot, humid, sun beating down. I literally got sick to my stomach before I got back home!

  18. I would love, too, to bottle up the Uneventful (and the Eventful) ... seems like they never show up when I want them to! and I'm glad you're enjoying The Americans. I had the same thought about the good guys and the bad guys. My feelings shifted back and forth the whole time we watched the show!

  19. I'm glad that you had a good weekend. Ours was a bit different this time. Friday night we went out for dinner at a favorite restaurant...a quaint little inn. It was a treat from my brother-in-law given to us at Hubby's retirement party. I stayed home Saturday and got laundry caught up...thought about making jam, but put it off until today. Hubby, on the other hand, was gone all day on Saturday helping a friend. Sunday was church morning and evening, and the afternoon was spent talking with our daughter and son-in-law and also with our granddaughter...then in the evening with our son. Overall it was a good weekend!

  20. No wonder you caved; that yarn is beautiful! I am way better at starting than finishing..... We spent one day of the weekend visiting Sunrise at Mount Rainier. Lest you think we got up early, we didn't that is just the spot's name. Even though we did get an early, for us, start, we had a long wait at the entrance. The wait, though, was worth it; the view there is spectacular!

  21. I like staying home b/c I can wear my PJ bottoms and/or not have to put on make up.
