Weekends

a little blurry but a great beginning of a hat

How was your weekend?

About an hour ago, I picked up my Mac and foolishly clicked the 'install a new operating system' button and then had to wait a whole hour to write this post.  Gah!

Yesterday we drove to State College to visit our son and have a lunch out.  I did not take any photos of that, so you'll have to imagine us together.  It was nice to see him and spend the afternoon with him.  The best part of the day trip was all the knitting I did in the car.  I am making serious progress in my project finishing.  More on that later on in the week.

Today, I did some cleaning and laundry, trying to put things back to where they belong in this house.  Vacuuming the house is a challenge with the dog/cat situation.  Neither animal likes the noise but I don't want them bumping into each other since Frodo loves to chase Holly still.  So I keep the cat in one room while Frodo runs where ever.  It seems to work.  Kids!

Our pool is STILL open.  We are waiting patiently (maybe impatiently) for a custom made winter cover to be made.  It was supposed to take approximately 3 weeks, we are now past week 4.  I guess it looks nice when I peek out a window.

For dinner we had chicken noodle soup and grilled cheese sandwiches.  The simplicity of this meal is satisfying!  Clean up was a breeze.  And the weather is so chilly the soup warmed my insides.

I finished Fahrenheit 451 and wasn't thrilled with the novel.  The premise was fantastic but the dialogue felt weird and not the way people would talk.  Sometimes I was wondering what was going on.  I'm glad I read this classic but I'm ready for some non-classic reading.

How was your weekend?

  1. I, perhaps like you? feel better when I pick up and put things where they belong. Your house looks neat and tidy to me. And also very inviting. I missed the decorating gene so I enjoy seeing what others have done. Quiet weekend here, catching up after being away. We did some yard work on both beautiful October days. The weather has been glorious since we returned. Church and coffee. This afternoon I took a walk and knitted on Norah's stocking. Slow and steady wins that race. Talk to you again on Wednesday. :-)

  4. Holly looks almost like a full-grown kitty. How at home she is. I like your decor. A laid back weekend thank goodness on my end. It was much needed. I'll probably try to post tomorrow.

  5. That looks like a wonderful weekend ! And my, has Miss Molly grown ! She's more like a 'Lady Molly' in that photo :)
My weekend was good, too. At Saturdays I have my volunteer job that I absolutely love, and Sunday I just took it easy.

  6. My weekend had plenty of dinner guests (twice) and plenty of apple cake (twice). Some of the guests stayed overnight, so while it was nice to see them, it will also be nice when they wake up this morning and I can do laundry and put things in my house back where they belong.

  7. I bet the drive was beautiful. Mine was pretty busy with Little B. I took him to his gardening club and then we stopped by a car show where there were all sorts of old cars. He is car obsessed. I also saw A Star is Born with a friend. I really had no interest in going but am so glad I did, it was amazing.

  8. Your home looks so lovely and inviting! I pottered about this morning vacuuming and putting things in order after the weekend too. There is something so satisfying with these small domestic home blessing chores. Your weekend sounds lovely and relaxing and a simple meal of soup and grilled cheese sounds just perfect! Love your kitty - so sweet!

  9. Your weekend sounds lovely, Karen. Mine was spent making applesauce and canning it, as well as canning some pears. Then the remainder of the weekend I spent resting!

Must have been nice to spend sometime with your son.
I love long drives when I get to be the passenger and read.. :)

  12. We traveled as well this weekend, to Cape Cod to visit old friends. I was able to get some knitting completed in the car as well! It has been a little slow going on the scarf I'm knitting, the needles are too long and make it awkward for me. I just ordered a shorter pair and am going to switch over with the hope that I start feeling more comfortable. We are on the same wavelength; my plan for tonight is to make chicken noodle soup and sandwiches! : )

  13. Love that picture of Holly. She is just so pretty! My weekend was good - some stash enhancement and a fun day out with Dee...then mostly catching up from being out of town most of the prior week. The cold snap came through for sure!

  14. I remember the 70s and 80s when we all loved Ray Bradbury. I just finished The October Country and I think I am over liking Mr. Bradbury's books. I am working on making my house clean today. I relaxed all weekend only to pay for it today!

  15. We got to see our son too! I loved every second of it. He's only a hour plus away, but I still get sad leaving him. Note to self: he doesnt want to live with his mother......he's fine. He loves the city, we love the countryside. Neither would be happy the other way around.

  16. Hope you get your new pool cover before icebergs begin to form. :) I wish I could say I spent time vacuuming this weekend. My work schedule plays havoc with our household cleanliness. The condition of my house shows that it's the end of the Season, except this year, the park has added Winter Fest... so my house might not see a vacuum until Jan. 1st. Yikes!
