Weekends

Ah, the first weekend of my summer break.  I felt relaxed and did all the things that bring me joy.  I wore shorts yesterday and today and the weather was perfect with low humidity and sunny skies.  I did some knitting and some painting each afternoon.

Oh, I read a book --- during the daytime!  That felt decadent.

I'm still knitting for limited hours but my hands feel fine.  So I think the worse is behind me.  I had a solid week of aches and pains that would pop up in one joint for 4-6 hours then disappear and pop up elsewhere.  It was weird and annoying.

However, how blessed I am that it comes and goes!

We went to Saturday night Mass and stopped at the local bakery on the way home.  We skipped the pizza run because we were determined to eat all the leftovers from the week of cooking when our son was here.

Today a friend came over to knit, but we talked more than knitted by the pool.  It felt like vacation sitting outside with a gentle breeze.

How was your weekend?

  2. Your knitting is coming along well, I'm glad you had a nice weekend. How nice that your friend popped round for a knitting session. This weekend - yesterday we had a lazy day doing some needed jobs. Today we had an indoor BBQ (oven and griddle) hot dogs and burgers with salad - due to mixed weather. Have a good week, Cathy x

  3. Not as lovely as yours. I have been taking care of Mr runny nose while having one myself. It has been raining and storming, which I love. Now it is time to get ready for the work week, bah humbug!

  4. We had a quiet weekend which I love. Yesterday I weeded the perennial flower bed and was happy to take care of that chore. This evening we had vegetarian tacos with a lime/yogurt/avocado crema that wasn't hard to make and quite good.

  5. Wasn't the weather just gorgeous this weekend.

We ran up to Center Valley (Bethlehem) this afternoon. We got the very happy news that our Goddaughter is getting married and is having an engagement party at the end of the month. Can you tell we are very excited. We just love Scott and are so glad that he will be family real soon (although we already thought of him as family anyway.)

  6. Well yours looked so nice and relaxing. Ours was full of tears as you can imagine. WE are still reeling from losing lil Bear a few days ago. I did get out to wash all my windows with the hose and the Windex sprayer. I also took some photos . I have been sleeping well, so that's good. We seem to take turns crying here. But the kitties here are a huge help.

  7. That last photo was idyllic. Sorry to read you are still in pain Karen you are in our prayers. Gerard is having a flare up too which was to be expected as his medication has been changed. Hopefully the worst is over.

  8. Your weekend sounded perfect! The strawberries were in, so that meant it was a weekend of jam making (with the added bonus of Strawberry Shortcake for dinner on Saturday night!)

  10. That last photo is so inviting and looks like the perfect place for some relaxed knitting with a friend. My weekend was busy with grocery shopping, lawn mowing, and laundry, but it's raining today, so I'm enjoying watching rain drops outdoors while I knit indoors.

  11. I always feel like we live close to each other, but after reading your post today, we couldn't be further apart. Our weekend was Stormy with a capital "S". We got 6 inches of rain on Friday and it continued to rain Saturday and Sunday... and today. I'm starting to grow gills! I'm happy you had nice weather for poolside knitting however. I'm also happy to hear your RA is doing better. Take care!

  12. Your weekend looks beautifully relaxing. Since I am confined to my house I live for the moments when friends drop by. I was able to do some stitching and postcard writing, but my hands (due to pressure from the crutches just can't knit for long. A good book has become a constant companion. Thank you for sharing your days, your crafts, your beautiful weekends.

How are you liking Little Fires Everywhere? It seems to be on everyone's list.

  15. Well, this weekend that you had written this post I was hauling butt on the Marauders Map cross stitch. Stitched about 300 stitches that one Saturday. I was relieved to get those footsteps done. If I hadn't been in a rush I would have enjoyed that part more but because I was in a rush, repetitive parts weren't as fun.
