Weekends

How was your weekend?

I was with my family for the Thanksgiving holiday.  I had a great time seeing everyone and being with everyone.  Not only does my dad and my stepmom make a delicious feast, they make an extra turkey and give me half of it to take home.  So you know me, I am eating turkey every single day in some variation and cooking minimally.

My sister and I had a fun outing shopping at select stores on Black Friday, the only hiccup was me fighting another sinus virus/infection.  I lost my voice, found my voice then lost it again.  The cough was quite disruptive and now I am on antibiotics.  I'm hoping to feel better soon.

Holly likes the cat themed blanket my sister gave me :)

I put up Holly's Christmas tree for her to play with....seriously though she has been super good for the first 24 hours of tree temptation.  As a precaution, my husband bungee corded it to the wall just in case she decides to be adventurous.

She is so happy under it!

Today I'm staying home from the gym and drinking lots of fluids.  There is a storm brewing outside as well.  I predict lots of knitting!

How was your weekend?

  1. That is such a wonderful gift for your father to give you turkey leftovers to take home! I basically make Thanksgiving dinner so I can enjoy all the leftovers, so that seems very thoughtful. I do hope you feel better soon. We've had snow and freezing rain, and now it's snowing. This would be great knitting weather but I will need to shovel.

  3. Love the picture of Holly and "her tree!" So cute. And how nice that your Dad and Step-Mom cook an extra turkey to share the leftovers. I miss that part of Thanksgiving. Colin & Mailing gave us some leftovers, but I miss making soup and having sandwiches for days on end - lol. Hope you are feeling better. Stay warm and out of the storm!!

  4. Holly is so adorable with the tree. I used to have a cat too, and I remember when she was really young and used to play with the tree. When she got older she just slept under the tree and drank the water from the tree stand. Silly cat. I hope you feel better soon! Enjoy your knitting.

  6. I love that first photo of Holly. She is so sweet.

Hope you are feeling better soon.

We are staying in today. It is lightly snowing, but I think it is supposed to get heavier later on.

Happy knitting and turkey eating for you!

  7. Glad you are on antibiotics. Winter colds are much worse than "they used to be." We really can't take chances with them. They can come back, with a vengeance.

Enjoy your nice Holiday memories. Cook only as much as needed. Rest. Your body still has to fight off the cold, and re-coup. Even with the help of the antibiotics. Only way to enjoy the rest of December, is to get really, fully well again.

There! Enough from *Your bossy ol' Aunt Tilley*!!!! -grin-

  8. Oh, I hope your virus/infection gets better soon! And how great that Holly is under instead of in the tree ;-)
We had a great weekend too, including a Thanksgiving dinner (A first for us - it's not a thing in Holland, but we have a lot of American friends now).

  15. Sorry you're sick. I hope you're on the mend now. I was a little run down and have ben drinking Emergen-C and echinecea tea; they've been helping. Our kittens have been very naughty with our tree which irritates me greatly; my husband is to the point where maybe he won't put it up next year! Wah! I may have to get little ones for the piano so I can at least have pretty, Christmas lights to see every day of December.
