Weekends

How was your weekend?

Spring has sprung around here and it's been glorious to witness.  This weekend's weather was pretty nice.  The sun was out for the majority of the day yesterday.  On our daily walk, I enjoyed wearing a light jacket and wearing sunglasses.  Based on the weather forecast for the upcoming week, I won't be wearing sunglasses any time soon.  But never say never.

Our lilac bushes are sprouting.  Last year they didn't blossom because of a severe pruning (much needed) I hope this year there will be some flowers.  Lilacs remind me of my dad's mom.  She loved spring and had all sorts of spring blossoms in her gardens.  The scent was intoxicating!

I finished a little cross stitch project (if you see a mistake, do NOT tell me....).  This wasn't the easiest of projects because of the colors being so close together, but I did enjoy the stitching.  Yesterday I dug up all of my cross stitch supplies and strolled down memory lane looking at booklets and leaflets that I collected and that my mother collected over the years.  I'm missing some embroidery hoops and realized that my daughter might have them.  When we can visit I'll be getting at least one of them back.

Yesterday I cleaned some of the house and did laundry.  I'm crafting a list of what I'd like to accomplish this week.  I have some continuing education to do that I have been procrastinating for days.  I really should just do it.

How was your weekend?

  1. My weekend was full of both active and relaxed pursuits - lots of yard work, weeding, and pruning, some knitting, lots of reading , checking in with family, and even a nap. Today is laundry day! (I'm hoping for some lilacs soon also!)

  6. Ohhhhh I love Lilacs!!!!!!! In memory... And in the 'now.'

    But...!!!!!!!

We both have allergies to them. He has always had allergies, and I seemed to "have caught them," from him, after long years of marriage. -Grinnnnnnnn- Anyway, I could enjoy them in the past and can not have _any_ flower in the house, now. (Seeeee? See why I say I *caught* it, from him???? -gigggles)

So please inhale every Lilac, you can, for about 5 minutes more, just for me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Stay Safe...

  8. Lilacs are one of my favorite! Sadly when we moved I had to leave 5 bushes behind, and I have none here in our new home.
    Your cross stitching is beautiful!
Hope you get some sunshine this week.

  9. The weekend involved a very cold bike ride with my hubby. The electric assist bike has no heater.....
but it was a good workout anyhow.
As old Chicago folk, we were really happy to see the Michael Jordan story start last night. It brings back memories. I left my son COVERED in chicken pox because we had tickets given us, to see a game with Jordan Playing. I Left him with my mom.....so does that count? She had 6 kids. and she knew chicken pox!

  14. Such pretty cross stitch. I too have saved leaflets, patterns and magazines. I have lots of floss and some pieces of fabric. We had some beautiful spring weather over the weekend after 4.5 inches of snow last Thursday - for heaven's sake. It was all gone by Saturday morning and we were back to spring.
