Weekends
My weekend was full of goodness, how was yours?
On Saturday our daughter and son in law came for an afternoon visit outside and it was wonderful. Sorry no photos, you'll have to conjure up happiness in your imagination. I was busy making a late lunch and bringing everything out and then after we ate I hauled everything back in. It was SO good to see them and to be with them.
Isn't it funny that before March we entertained frequently and the work involved seemed minimal. Now after months of doing nothing, a social day with food preparation is so much work! I guess I'm used to endless days of no socialization.
We sat outside trying to find some sun beams to sit in because in the shade it was quite brisk. Last time they visited, we were desperately trying to find shade because it was over 90 degrees. I'll take the brisk any day.
While Saturday was busy, my Sunday was not. I did laundry and cleaned then tried to stuff in some knitting. I loved the nothingness of Sunday - so peaceful.
How was your weekend?
That sounds like a lovely weekend! A day with kids and a day of nothing - Perfect!! And gosh it is chilly and I am loving it.
ReplyDeleteI'll take brisk and visiting with loved ones any day (even if it does seem like work now)!
ReplyDeleteSounds like the ingredients of a wonderful weekend. I love that you call the cold brisk, I haven't heard that expression for years!
ReplyDeleteYay that you got to spend sometime with your daughter and son in law.
ReplyDeleteOur Saturday was also busy.. we went to go play a round of mini golf.. it felt less brisk and more wintery cold.. not ready for it yet!
Sunday we also blissfully did nothing.. M and I even managed to sneak in a nap.. which almost never happens.
So glad you had a nice visit with your daughter and son in law, and a nice relaxing Sunday is perfect. Wishing you a wonderful week! :)
ReplyDeleteYour weekend sounds idyllic. Visits with grown children is one of the best things about being a parent. We had a short visit with two of our grown children this weekend and it made us so happy too.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a wonderful weekend, seeing family is the best.
ReplyDeleteOur weekend was lovely. It was a mixture of relaxing and doing some chores. We did get our flu shots. It’s earlier that we typically get them but we’re trying to be ahead of things. The brisk weather is very appreciated. We even turned the heat on this morning!
ReplyDeleteHello - So glad you could spend some time with your daughter this weekend - family time is precious time. I love your backyard. Cooler temperatures here in Utah now too. Have a good week.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful weekend! I'm so glad you got to see your daughter and son-in-law! Our daughter and son-in-law returned to Brooklyn on Saturday after staying with us for three weeks. They have been using our house as a respite from Brooklyn. I'm so glad we didn't downsize when we moved! Saturday was also the day our youngest daughter who lives in D.C. came to spend two weeks with us. After having her live overseas for 6 years we love how close she is now! Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteah, I'm so glad you got to see your daughter. I had NO trouble conjuring happiness in my imagination :-) LOVE the notebook "doodle"!
ReplyDeleteI am doing a happy dance for you. I feel much the same way about socializing. After so much time at home, socializing is a lot of work. I will also take brisk any day although we haven't had brisk yet. All in good time. The trees are turning and I hoping for a colorful autumn.
ReplyDeleteYour photo with the sun in the trees is so peaceful. Glad you saw family. It does involve more work , that's for sure, but thats a small price to pay. Our weekend included a bike ride. Two very long zoom calls with friends. and all my knitting was for naught. But I'm restarted on my needles and on track now. IT is amazing how that disrupts me. I like to be mid project at all times.....
ReplyDeleteIt's always fun to visit with the ones you love. We saw my parents for my birthday . We'll be going up again for the junior's 16th in two Saturdays.
