Weekends

Call me crazy but after a 48 hour break, my husband and I resumed the Great Declutter Project. Yes, I was going through a big closet over the weekend. Repeatedly I get excited that I am clearing out what I do not want and yet am disappointed at what I continue to own! I will never fit in a tiny house. Let's be honest, my yarn stash would have difficulty fitting in a tiny house, ha ha.

How are you? How was your weekend?

I talked to both kids yesterday and we had homemade pizza for dinner (yum). The views outside our windows look like mid to late spring but it was a chilly weekend. It's supposed to warm up today but I think we are going to be great friends with clouds and rain this week.

In our front yard we have a mostly decomposed tree stump that a pileated woodpecker is helping itself to a hearty breakfast nearly every morning, I wish I could get a photo but so far it's very shy.

Tell me about your weekend!

  1. Good for you continuing the decluttering!! I donated 3 large bags on Saturday, and like you, I keep wondering what else I can get rid of. There is just so much stuff!! And I think it feel more like March than May. It is chilly!!

  2. I've decluttered a bit in NJ, and I hope I remember the work involved when I'm tempted to buy more stuff (although I did get a little excited looking at that breadmaker )!

  3. I was in my craftroom this week and started lookin at all the non craft related items in there that needed to leave my house. I think, once the decluttering starts, it never really ends. My weekend included dinner with my daughter and her husband and the a BBQ at my house with my son and his family. My son in TX called and we talked for a bit. It was a great Mother's Day weekend for me.

  4. We did a bit of that decluttering in the basement. It felt good! Other than that, I did a whole lot of nothing but what I wanted to do! (sadly, I am paying for it this morning! lol)

  5. Hi Karen,
...we did some decluttering too...and the car is packed and ready for a trip to Goodwill...and the recycle bin is full of cardboard...we had so many things still in boxes from when we moved here 6 years ago...so obviously we didn't need those things anymore...
    ~Have a lovely day!

  8. My weekend was so mixed. My longtime friend Michael died at 72, far too soon. But both my kids called for Mother's Day. I have all kinds of health stuff going on, so I stayed home but was visited by a number of friends.
Our retirement house is not tiny, but we did go from 2,700 square feet to 1,800 (with about 600 in the basement). It forced us to declutter, which felt really good.

  9. I bet that feels good to get rid of stuff. I'd like to do some reorganizing again also. My husband hasn't been feeling well; apparently the side effects from his second Pfizer started a week later. He even got tested for Covid and it was negative - THANK GOODNESS. Our 16 yo got her second Pfizer on Saturday. Saturday flew by for me. I doubt I got anything done except cook. Sunday we had vegan burger take out and blondies for dessert.

  11. Every time I put something away in a cupboard I think about how it might not fit into someone else's cupboard!

  12. On you go with decluttering. I have come to think of it as an ongoing process. We took a walk together on both Sat. and Sun. On Sunday we talked to both of our children. I did just a little spinnig and knit in the evening.

  13. Hooray for decluttering. I felt like that was what we did most of jan, feb and march while stuck in the winter covid. I was in Mexico! I did it. Went. Spent 6 glorious days with my son and husband. I got a cooking lesson from a mexican chef, I went on a river tour and mostly cried my eyes out saying goodbye.

  14. Hubby and I did a bunch of paper decluttering on Friday. We are enjoying a visit from our son who is staying until Tuesday. Mostly a relaxing weekend as Hubby couldn't do much after surgery. Hubby and I learned a new board game, Concordia, that our son brought home to play. Have a great week.
