Weekends

Good morning! How are you all? I'm doing fine enough where I am right at this moment. I was caught unawares at how much brain power it takes to move. Everything that I did before in my old town takes lots of thinking in the new town. I also have what seems an endless list of to dos to change address or to check up on things.

Friday morning, Mr. Frodo had an appointment with a new groomer. He and I both did well and liked the new lady. I have a feeling she likes schnauzers...but then maybe she likes all dogs. He looks so dapper with the bow which came off in six hours..

This weekend was stuffed with family gatherings. Our son and daughter in law arrived late Friday night and on Saturday we went over to my Aunt's house for dinner and gathering. The evening was delightful. Of course everyone came back over to my house to get a tour.

Yesterday we celebrated my dad's 80th birthday with another family gathering. I have lots of photos but forgot to get permission to post them on the blog, so you'll have to imagine happy faces.

We recycled our old grill before the move and purchased a new one for the deck. I think my husband likes it.

We are still unpacking and rearranging our 'stuff'. I'm excited to share with you more photos as we make slow progress. I still have a short emotional fuse when I get frustrated, I know it's because of the move but I'm surprised at what will upend my balance. My RA flare is still there but minimal enough to enjoy life. I get so tired and take MANY breaks which is the best way to manage it so far. I see my new RA doctor next week!

How was your weekend?

  2. I'm so glad your weekend was filled with family, it doesn't get any better than that, and happy 80th to you dad! You'll be all settled before you know it. Have a great week!

  3. Frodo looks so very handsome. His groomer did a good job. Your weekend of family sounds like it did you a world of good. Take all the breaks you need. The boxes aren't going to mind if they don't get unpacked asap. Your health is much more important.

  4. Sounds like you are getting settled and that's a good thing! Glad, too, that your RA is improving. So have you located all of your yarn/projects yet? We had a good week; celebrated a friend's b'day with a dinner out and went to church in person for the first time yesterday since COVD started! That was so much nicer than online!

  5. So glad you are settling in and able to have family see your new home. It does take a lot of juggling to get everything sorted including doctors so take your time. So happy Karen that you are able to listen to your body and keep the RA under control. Take care.

  6. Your weekend sounds so lovely - filled with family gatherings. So nice that your son and his wife could visit and Happy Birthday to your Dad. I agree with Leftycrafter - take any and all breaks that you need. Who cares if a box doesn't get unpacked right away? Soon everything will be familiar and you'll find your favorite places.

  7. I imagine getting settled in a new place would take some brain power. But how lovely to be with family.

  8. It appears that you're well on the way to being "settled," in just a manner of days - well, maybe weeks. Enjoy your new home and I suspect a lot of good meals from that new grill.
    Cheers~

  9. What a wonderful weekend to celebrate being kind of settled. Frodo is quite handsome (and I'm sure the new groomer has a sweet spot for schnauzers because ... of course!) ... and I hope you have an easy time finding all the new doctors (yikes!)

  10. Finding your new go to for everything is the hardest part after all the packing and unpacking of course. But wonderful that you get to be so close to family.

  11. Glad you are getting settled in. It DOES take time to feel familiar with the new area. I grew UP here and it took almost three years for me to feel like this is home again. Of course, a LOT has changed in the 35 years I was gone. LOL

It must be good being back with family.

We spent our weekend meeting up with a friend that I haven't seen since 2004.

  12. Moving is hard for even the most healthy person. For those of us who have significant health issues, it is grueling! I am giving myself a full to get fully settled because I know I need to take it easy.
How wonderful that you were able to celebrate your dad’s 80th birthday,

  13. It sounds like you had a wonderful family filled weekend. It appears that you are settling in and making your way around your new location. Glad you found a groomer that you like. I hope you feel the same way about the new RA physician.

  14. Moving is HARD! But, it does come together eventually and starts to feel normal, like home again. Sorry your RA is acting up, good luck and hope all goes well with your new RA doc. Your weekend looked wonderful.

  15. I love Schnauzers. We had our first dog as a family, that was not hunting dog, that is, and it was Missy Our miniature schnauzer. My mom and I loved her. She just had one fault . She barked and barked when the bell rang. IN those days people had their dog's voice box or vocal chords snipped to take away the bark. We thought that was awful so we put up with Missy's over barking. Your dog looks handsome! hang in there. Moving is hard work. I kept a journal with new electric company fees and start up, closing out old electric, etc etc etc. It is a lot of work . In One month you will be all settled . I love the family gathering for 80!

  16. Happy Birthday to your Dad. How wonderful you could celebrate together and have your son and daughter-in-law visit. Moving is wearing, especially finding "new" everything. Frodo looks very dapper. I hope you get along well with your new RA doctor.
