This and That

Good morning! I hope you all of you have had a fine week. This is the first week where we are not unpacking boxes. Believe me there are still boxes here and there but we have lost some motivation. I started up with my exercise program after a few months off and it felt good to get back into the groove. I'm surprised at how little muscle was lost, not that I have a lot of muscle. Sadly the morning walks will be ending due to hot humid weather creeping back in.

I'm ready for fall but I cannot let myself go there!

I compiled all documenting into the above Hobonichi Weeks planner and I've been happy with the simplification so far. Besides keeping track of appointments, I'm marking down the menu plan and exercising sessions. I have a whole page for a sentence a day gratitude list (I love doing that).

I do have an art journal that I write in a few times a week.

The knitting is coming along - I try to sit and rest in the afternoons and put in some much needed rows. I've been thinking of Christmas knitting and what should I make and who should I knit for this season.

My studio continues to be a huge mess. I've created a memory box/bin for each child and just need to move those two bins out of my room. I've started with miscellaneous photos, putting them into existing albums and sorting very old photos of relatives that are no longer with us and placing them in new binders. For those old precious photos, I've been using removable tombow ribbon adhesive which is quite handy. I amazed myself by actually finding it - it's a slippery slope in locating items.

My husband by far is much much better and labeling boxes and finding the stuff he packed. Me on the other hand wrote vague scant descriptions and I questioned what it all meant. The only boxes that were well labeled that I packed said 'open me first' or 'pick me' (I appreciated my past self for that).

The only way the missing candle remote that I packed 'somewhere safe' will show up is when I buy all new candles with a new remote. I am seriously considering this.

  1. I think I would have lost motivation a while ago! It seems like you were packing forever and then unpacking. We are starting to move Ryan's boxes into his new house on the 16th, but can't move furniture until we have help on the 21st. Good luck with the candle remote!

  2. Oh the unpacking! I love the idea of labeling things with Open me first. I hope that weather won’t be a deterrent for too long.

  3. I love the idea of putting your children's things in plastic totes. I need to do that - and just keep one per child. I am sure I have kept way to much stuff. Many moms tend to do that. ;-) Glad you are taking some time to rest and relax and not stress about what remains undone for now. Have a good weekend. See you again soon.

  4. I've been looking at planners again but pre-made ones and have been researching the differences between the Go Girl, Legend, Panda, and the Clever Fox ones.

  5. Your hobonichi weeks planner is great. So many possibilities with it. This year I am using the Silk and Sonder journals and am loving them. As for unpacking, those boxes will not be upset about sitting for a while. You guys have worked hard and deserve to slow down a bit. From the first photo, I think Frodo agrees with me.

  6. Don't you just love it when your "smarter self" paves the way for you? Especially when she has your number! Enjoyed this post and I think you buy new candles, etc but don't use - save the receipt and for sure your "old" ones will show up ...and if you like, you can return or keep to give as a gift ? or for yourself.
    Cheers~

  7. We've started packing, but still have a few weeks before the actual move. So much anxiety around all this...any advice or suggestions?

  8. Your Hobonichi planner is very pretty. I found a store in Phila. that sells all kinds of planners, log books, etc... from Japan. I may give one a try in 2022.

I can't believe I just typed 2022 and it's NOT that far away! YIKES!

  9. I love your black and white photo of Frodo! How are he and Holly adjusting? We are babysitting our daughter’s dog this week and she seems to be adjusting okay. I love the pagoda in your backyard!

  10. Still you are making loads of progress, you just got there and you are well on your way to being done. Rest up and have a good weekend.

  11. Such a cute pic of your dog! I hope your unpacking continues to go well. I really struggled with our move a couple years back trying to remember where everything was put in the new house as well as what I'd put in what box, haha!

Hope you are having a good weekend :)

  12. Oh I've been to that p1ace where you buy a new one and fina11y find the other! I do just adore my 1abe1 maker. I used it for an hour this afternoon.

  13. I feel you! I've moved so many times that I don't even bother to label boxes. I just start unpacking. However, I have to admit that there are things I haven't found yet!

  14. I do not envy you having to deal with more unpacking. I am obsessive about labeling storage boxes. I will probably be the same way when packing boxes. Good luck finding the remote.

  15. Earlier this year I got a Hobonichi Weeks planner, and I just LOVE it! My plan is to continue with it in 2022!

Good luck finding that remote. Sigh.
