Weekends

I love how Holly stuffs herself in this small cat perch. How are you? How was your weekend?

I had a relaxing and restorative weekend. I did a lot of knitting on the never ending shawl but with every single row I am one more row completed. I am thoroughly enjoying watching Autumn shove its way in while the remnants of Summer continue to cling desperately but unsuccessfully.

My husband and I did a lot of walking and chose a different neighborhood route. I do appreciate all of my wooded secluded walks in my old town. It's been an adjustment living in a suburb with a lot of traffic. Twice a week we drive to a local park to walk where the traffic is scant, that is lovely. We are here almost three months and I am finally feeling like myself. It takes me a long time to adjust to change.

Sunday I did all those pesky household chores and finished them in lightning speed so I could read my book and later do some more knitting. Dare I say my knitting mojo is back? I'd like to think so!

How was your weekend?

  1. Walking is so much nicer (and safer) without traffic, and it's also much nicer now that autumn has finally arrived. I hope your neverending shawl ends soon!

  2. Now that so many are back to work, the neighborhood traffic has made the walking tough. I am fortunate to have two trails close by so I drive there most days too. I think cats and toddlers have something in common - snuggling into little nests.

  3. Holly looks quite content in her small space. I enjoy walking in my neighborhood. There is always something new to see. Whether it is a new landscaping job or new paint on a house or sometimes it is a new baby out in a stroller. After 33 years of living here watching the demographics change has been interesting. I like your gazebo in your yard. It has such a serene look to it. I am glad you starting to feel like yourself again. Change can be hard on a body. Have a great week.

  8. It's nice you are finding new walking routes and settling in! I found that was a nice thing about the lockdown we ended up exploring and finding more local walks near us!

Hope your week is off to a good start :)

  11. Holly certainly looks content! I understand how hard it is to adjust to a new place and am glad you are giving yourself time. We celebrated my husband's birthday this weekend. We had our mothers over as well as my brother-in-law, daughter and son-in-law. Gatherings like these have become tricky because both moms are showing signs of dementia and seem to feel they are in competition for our attention. We half-jokingly call it "Mama Drama"! : )

  13. I think three months is a reasonable amount of time to settle in and feel more like yourself. I am a creature of habit myself. Moving is disorienting. I still remember the feelings and I haven't moved for quite some time. Our weekend was nice although summer weather returned - sigh.

  14. It sounds like you are adjusting well to your new surroundings, change is hard but often good for us and you will get back into your rhythm. I am fortunate to have a neighborhood park to my walks with our fur baby. It’s starting to get cooler here in Phoenix making walking so enjoyable.
