Weekends

How was your weekend?

Mine was pretty good. Over the weekend I purchased some remote controlled candles for inside the fireplace that we currently are unable to use. Since we can't decide what to do (fix the fireplace or purchase a gas insert...) my sister texted some photos of fireplaces with candles.

With a flick of a button I have ambient lighting.

The local fall foliage is PEAK this week if you ask me. Everywhere you look you see some brilliant shades of orange, yellow and red. The multitude of rain makes everything bright and vibrant.

I did all those pesky chores yesterday and have a mostly clean and tidy house. For now. My knitting is on fire and yet I did not take a photo of it this weekend to share with you. You'll just have to conjure up some wooly goodness yourself.

Tell me about your weekend!

  1. Yours sounds like a good weekend. Mine was good as well. I still need to do some cleaning, but I was distracted from that by other things (including Mabel). It was 46 here this a.m. when I got up - I had to put the heat on! Love your candles in the fireplace - so pretty.

  2. The tree in your front yard is lovely, and the candles in the fireplace make the room look cozy. Just the way you want it in the fall!

  4. I, too, have remote controlled candles in my fireplace. Gives a lovely glow in the evenings and doesn't add heat to our home in the summer. This weekend was grand daughter weekend. We had her swimming invitational all day Saturday and Sunday was her school play of The Addams Family. She had a role in it and did a great job. Not much knitting got done with all that going on.

  5. You fireplace look great with the candles. We don't use our fireplace much.. it works but it's always scary with turning on the gas and lighting the flame.. and the big sound it makes when it lights.. I may be being a bit over dramatic.. but it's always a fear of mine.

  13. We had a big weekend, actually Thursday to Monday. We drove to Texas to see our son and his family. We had a beautiful Friday evening to watch our grandson play football and then spent Saturday and Sunday hanging out. I worked on a jigsaw puzzle with my DIL and her mother. We made it home safely on Monday.

  14. Hi - thank you for being a constant in my inbox. I love hearing your news and about what you are knitting. I am currently researching fires as ours is on its last legs too. However with COP 26 and global warming being so front and centre in the news I am beginning to have serious reservations about putting in another gas appliance. I can’t stop using gas ( the main heating is gas and we cook with gas) but I feel a bit yucky about buying a new gas appliance. But what I wanted to say is that from my research it seems electric fires have come a long way now and are now very realistic and smart looking. Not the old plastic flicker effect of days gone by! And apparently very easy to install. It might be worth you looking at.

    1. That is a concern and when we start shopping around I will take that into consideration. We are lucky to live with so many options now!
