Weekends

How are you? I spent the weekend huddling inside my house during either bitter cold temperatures or during a snowfall. I loved it! I finished all the stitching I can possibly do on the baby sampler. Now I need the name and date - due date is February 9th. We are getting closer and closer.

I struggled getting those pesky little buttons on the fabric. I had to use a sewing needle that was quite difficult to thread (old eyes). Even the needle threader could not get in that wee little needle eye. However, I kept trying and guessing and succeeded! What a challenge!

I cannot sing enough praises for my bird feeder that brings me endless joy. Whenever I'm in the kitchen I'm watching them. The birds are quite greedy in a snow storm.

Nothing new over the weekend, just snow, stitching, knitting, reading and those super boring weekly household chores.

How was your weekend?

  1. We have a lot of feeders and enjoy watching the birds (from the kitchen or in my office). Mabel is enjoying them too and continues to "chitter" to them. Your baby sampler is adorable and gosh! It won't be long now at all. My weekend was good - meeting up with Dee, some knitting, some stitching, cooking & napping. That about covers it!

  2. Beautiful stitching!!!

We love our birdfeeder as well. It's right outside our living room's picture window and it brings us endless hours of joy and entertainment. I would have never known how many woodpeckers we have around here without it. The birds are just so much fun to watch (and we're able to recognize some of our regulars by their more unusual markings). My husband even refilled the feeder before he left at 5 am today, which I thought was very sweet. :)

  4. The sampler is so sweet. The 'pesky little buttons' add so much charm to it. Sounds like a lovely stay at home weekend for you. I went to Mass, made tortillas, cooked real meals, made menus, grocery shopped and cast on a new knitting project.

  5. My feeders provide me with some of my most appreciated viewing! I can see one from my knitting chair and I'd love to have one that I can see from the kitchen sink. It seems like I spend a lot of time there, and it would be better with birds.

  7. Goodness it won't be long before that little grandchild arrives. I'm telling you it is a wonderful moment and changes your heart forever - for the better of course. I watch the birds from my kitchen window and also from the window over my writing desk. They bring me so much wonder and joy. Not much new here this weekend either.

  9. I love your stitch and it looks great. Your weekend sounds so relaxing and nice. I love the photo of the bird in the bird feeder. That would be nice to look out at from your window.

  10. Your weekend was a lot like ours although we did get to see our daughter and grandkids yesterday; they had just returned from Hawaii and were feeling awfully chilly not to mention jet lagged. My sister gave a bird "Bell" made from some kind of seeds that the birds are enjoying; it's fun to watch them and fun to see the bell losing its shape as they dine.
