Weekends

Yesterday my husband and I went to the Phipps Conservatory with my sister and brother in law. We are trying to visit every season. We had such a good time, the butterfly exhibit was open (yay).  This time around my favorite spaces were the children's garden and the Japanese garden, both outdoors.

We came home with some new ideas for what to do with our backyard and the abandoned in-ground filled with dirt pool which is the ultimate gardening challenge for us.

My weekend was calm, I did a lot of knitting and reading and avoiding the computer, tablet and phone. I dug deep into art journaling and watercoloring as well.

I am perfecting my skills at frying tofu and the photo below is my first attempt. The texture turned out fantastically. Next up is seasoning the tofu without salt (such a sad state of affairs because I love salt.)

How was your weekend?

  1. The tofu looks great!! I want to learn to cook that well (my attempts have been crap). Sounds like it was a perfect weekend. Love the pictures of you and your hubby and you and your sister - both are lovely photos.

  7. What a lovely weekend! Mine was fun as well. On Saturday my daughter and I went to see Dear Evan Hanson on Broadway. It was soooo good. We were both crying by the end, which sounds a little contradictory, doesn't it? : ). On Sunday I ran happy errands (garden center, short visit with Mom) and returned home to an afternoon on our deck. The weather was beautiful!

  12. What a fun outing! I always love seeing photos of you and your sister ... I'm so glad you're able to see each other more these days! and intrigued by the tofu. It isn't a favorite of mine (or Marc's) but I keep thinking that's just because we don't know how to cook it!

  16. Such lovely photos in this post, the one of you with your sister is lovely. The gardens sound like a wonderful place to visit, what a lovely idea to go in each season. I am a sporadic user of tofu and it is always lovely when we do eat it. We love smoked tofu too but you have to be careful buying it as sometimes it is just artificially flavoured rather than being properly smoked.
