Happenings
Good morning! How are you and are you experiencing the hot hot hot weather? Goodness it is hot here and I am ever so grateful to have AC to hide in. I've been busy this week helping with the grandchildren. Even though I am busy I finished a few books.
The first one is Emily Wilde's Encyclopaedia of Faeries by Heather Fawcett. I picked this book up on a whim and thoroughly enjoyed it. I've reserved the next in the series on Libby. Supposedly that will be available in 11 weeks. I can wait.
I also finished The Artist's Way by Julia Cameron. I enjoyed the content of the book but I really didn't care for her writing style. I know this book is popular among creative people and I can see why. But the book was not for me. I did finish it though.
Yesterday I started reading The Great Gatsby which I have never read. It was not required when I was in high school and I thought I should read it. I picked up a used copy somewhere a few years ago and I have delightful notes scribbled in the margins by a high school girl. Let's see if her notes shed light on the plot and meaning.
Did you have to read The Great Gatsby in high school? Did you like it?
It looks like several children have been having fun there. Stay cool!
ReplyDeleteThis heat... oof! I am so thankful we have AC!
ReplyDeleteYes...the heat is here, too. I just came in from spending about 20 minutes in one of my flower beds, as it was only 68 degrees when I went outside. But I'm now done outside for the day. :)
ReplyDeleteI don't remember having to read The Great Gatsby in high school. I'll be looking forward to hearing what you think of it when you finish.
And that last picture of yours! Oh, be still my heart! It brings back so many sweet memories.
Yes, the heat is here! Thankfully I enjoy it. I did read The Great Gatsby but not in High School... I did not really enjoy it. Looks like you have been having fun with the Grands! :) Hope you get some rest time in this week and you stay cool.
ReplyDeleteWe are HOT too. But no real humidity so it's not horrid, yet. Horrid starts next month lol. Being inside and reading is a great way to spend super hot days. The Great Gatsby was not required by my high school. We had to read The Odyssey by Homer.
ReplyDeleteWe did not read the Great Gatsby. I did try to read it as an adult and couldn't get into it. I think my favorite book from required high school reading was The Cask of Amontillado by Edgar Alan Poe. Either that one or a play we read called On Borrowed Time. I reread both as an adult and enjoyed them just as much.
