Happenings

Good morning! Today is the day where the weather is cooler, I am so excited. Instead of high 80's it'll be low 70's. A dream come true! I cannot wait to feel cold. As a winter lover, this is the hint I've been waiting for and I will not squander my time.

I've been busy with the grandchildren. I see them frequently and when they come here to visit they play with the toys I have in the family room. And I feed them strawberries and bananas. They both love fruit!

Yesterday we had lunch at my sister and brother in law's house along with my dad and his wife. It was nice to get together. The above photo was from my sister's beautiful yard. I snapped the swallowtail butterfly photo from my front yard.

We had all the plumbing in the basement replaced last week because we spring a leak every 3-6 months and we were weary of that. Also we had landscapers remove the ancient abandoned pool in our lower back yard. They'll be coming back to add topsoil and grass seed later in the summer.

I steadily knitted this weekend and started reading The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath. I've never read her and I felt up to the challenge. So far I am enjoying the book. I continue to holiday knit for the grandchildren. I'm making steady progress. I bought a wool/acrylic blend for two of the sweaters and my hands are not happy about that. I guess 100% wool is the best!!

  1. We have had so many butterflies on our butterfly bush! I can see it from my kitchen window and I love watching them while I do the dishes! It makes a mundane task magical! :)

  2. Hi Karen,
...time with family is just the best...I think we're lucky if we enjoy being with our families...your flowers and butterflies are beautiful...I re-read The Bell Jar pretty recently...I'd read it in Jr. High School for some reason...I think a lot of the books that I read then need to be re-read with some life experience behind me...
    ~Have a lovely day!
