Happenings
Our weekend which is still going strong today has been filled with the local grandkids being here. Today they are coming over for the day and we will have burgers and fries for dinner. Yesterday I made brownies so we already have a dessert.
I've been trying to build up my exercise routine after weeks of slacking off due to my health issues. I guess slacking off isn't the right wording. I did take a slow walk yesterday and heard the spring peepers (frogs) for the first time. Truly spring!! I love hearing all the birds as well.
My bird feeders have been visited by: cardinals, sparrows, nuthatches, chickadees, goldfinches and many titmouse. I have a thistle feeder and a safflower feeder and best of all the raccoon who lives in my woods does not bother with them (yet).
We went to the local garden center for deck flowers and those are growing nicely since it's been raining nearly every day.
What have you been up to? Do you do annuals on your property? Do you have local wildlife in your yard?

I'm so glad you can get out for little walks. So cleansing. I always make brownies for Memorial Day! Enjoy your family time.
ReplyDeleteHere is to easing back into a bit of activity! May your day be full of good things!
ReplyDeleteYour flowers are beautiful. Always nice to see Holly too.
ReplyDeleteI do not do annuals. No room for them.
I know we have a fox that walks along our fence line now and then on his way back into the greenbelt area. I have the usual birds and last week Steve said we now have a new snake. He is living under our back "stoop".
We are glad to have him and hope he enjoys a good mouse-y meal on the regular. Our last snake (Fred) did a good job, but we think he got too close to mama mockingbird's nest in the azalea and she killed him. Glad for her that her eggs/babies were safe, but sorry to lose our mouser.
Your flowers are so pretty, Karen. And it was good to see a picture of Holly, too. Was she posing for you? :) We have a lot of perennials in our yard, but we also do some annuals, especially around the porch. And we do have squirrels who have been enjoying the last of the bird feed.
ReplyDeleteThe flowers really have been loving all this extra rain, haven't they? Now...we just need a little sunshine:I)
ReplyDeleteAfter a chilly and wet weekend, our sun is out but the humidity is on the rise as well. Ugh! Hope your weekend with the grands was a nice one. We saw deer in our yard yesterday - they were munching away on something in our boggy area...luckily they left the iris flowers for us to enjoy.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a busy but nice long weekend. We are visited by deer, numerous birds I can not name, squirrels and chipmunks, fox and an recent addition is a groundhog we have seen running up and down the yard.. never stops.. always on the run.
ReplyDeleteI hope you have fun.
ReplyDeleteYour photos are beautiful and your cat is adorable. I hope you have a lovely week.
ReplyDeleteSounds like you had a fun Memorial Day weekend. What a beautiful iris. I plant a few annuals from seed such as zinnias and marigolds. This year I tried Calendula and Bachelor Buttons as well. The bunnies made quick work of the Bachelor Buttons.
